Abstract: The present disclosure provides a mechanism to synchronously drive distributed speakers around a user based on localization outputs of ultra wideband (UWB) communication chips already existing in devices. Distances may be determined between a user device, such as a phone or wearable, and a plurality of distributed speakers or other devices. Based on an intersection point of such distances, the user's location can be identified. Such location can be used to modify how audio is played on each of the plurality of distributed speakers.

Abstract: In general, techniques are described by which to enable a transparency mode in vehicles. The processors may perform beamforming with respect to the audio data to obtain object audio data representative of an audio object in the sound scene external to the vehicle. The processors may next reproduce, by interfacing with one or more speakers included within the vehicle and based on the object audio data, the audio object in the sound scene external to the vehicle.

Abstract: The technology generally relates to spatial audio communication between devices. For example, a first device and a second device may be connected via a communication link. The first device may capture audio signals in an environment through two or more microphones. The first device may encode the captured audio with direction information. The first device may transmit the encoded audio via the communication link to the second device. The second device may decode the encoded audio to be output by one or more speakers of the second device. The second device may output the decoded audio to recreate positions of the captured audio signals.

Abstract: An electronic device has memory, one or more processors, a speaker, and a microphone. The device sends a first set of ultrasound chirps at a first rate via the speaker. It receives, via the microphone, a first set of signals corresponding to the first set of ultrasound chirps and being reflected from a person. The device determines based on the first set of signals that the person is in proximity to the electronic device. In accordance with the determination that the person is in proximity to the electronic device, the device sends a second set of ultrasound chirps at a second rate, faster than the first rate. It receives, via the microphone, a second set of signals corresponding to the second set of ultrasound chirps, and identifies a gesture from the person based on the second set of signals.
