    摘要: Thermal expansion compensating arrangement including a vessel and a first member anchored to the vessel so that it can thermally expand uniformly radially outwardly in a given direction from a longitudinal axis of the vessel. A second member is disposed in the vessel with a desired alignment in the given direction relative to the first member at a base temperature, the second member being made of the same material as the first member. An anchoring arm is provided for anchoring the second member to the vessel. The anchoring arm has one end which forms a rigid connection with the vessel and another end which forms a rigid connection with the second member. The anchoring arm is made of material having a coefficient of thermal expansion for causing the anchoring arm to expand away from its rigid connection with the vessel while the second member thermally expands away from the rigid connection with the anchoring arm. The coefficients of thermal expansion and anchoring arm length are selected based upon a predetermined relationship for causing the thermal expansion of the anchoring arm to compensate for the thermal expansion of the second member so that upon an increase in temperature from the base temperature the second member will thermally expand uniformly radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis to thereby maintain the desired alignment with the first member.

    摘要: A filtering apparatus for separating particulates from a hot gas stream using hollow, tubular filter elements has a housing with a laterally extending support plate for the filter elements separating the housing into upper and lower sections. The tops of the filter elements are biased against the support plate and the bottoms thereof restrained from lateral movement by restraining rings. Blowback and purge gas systems provide for cleaning of the filter elements and maintenance of the blowback system clear of the solids or condensation products that might form during the separation. The apparatus is especially useful in filtering solids from a hot, corrosive gaseous stream, such as a zirconium tetrachloride process gas stream, where the gas stream contains gaseous constituents that are subject to condensation or solids formation during separation of the particulates and prior to discharge from the filtering apparatus.

    摘要: In one embodiment the present invention provides for a regenerable sulfur remover that comprises a gaseous flow 2, a first layer in line with the gaseous flow 6, and a second layer 8 in line with the first layer. The first layer comprises a physical absorber of sulfur; the second layer comprises a pyrophoric material capable of being reduced by the gaseous flow. To regenerate the adsorbing layer, a blower 22 blows air first over the second layer, the air flow is heated by passing over the second layer, and then over the first layer. The heated air flow removes sulfur from the first layer, and the air flow is exhausted after removing sulfur from the first layer.

    摘要: A filtering apparatus for separating particulates from high temperature, high pressure gas streams has a vessel divided into upper and lower chambers by a tubesheet, the tubesheet having a flexible support means with the rim thereof resting in a groove in outwardly extending flange portions securing together upper and lower sections of the vessel wall. The flexible support means for the tubesheet has a cylindrical wall depending from a support plate and a conical wall depending from the rim, the two walls secured together, with insulation between and about the walls. The vessel is insulated and preferably has a steam coil cooling device in the lower section thereof. A backflush system includes vertically spaced rows of pipes having tubes depending therefrom directed to the open tops of the filter elements, with the spaced rows connected together by pivotal links, and alignment means provided to align the open ends of the tubes with the open tops of the filter elements. The apparatus may use hollow, ceramic, tubular filter elements or hollow ceramic fabric filter elements.
