Abstract: A sieving system for a powder is provided. The sieving system includes a support structure; a filter housing movable relative to the support structure, the filter housing defining an inlet and an outlet, the filter housing comprising a broad frequency filter disposed between the inlet and the outlet, the broad frequency filter configured to restrict a first portion of the powder larger than a predetermined threshold from reaching the outlet; and a powder mass control assembly configured to determine data indicative of a powder mass within a portion of the sieving system and control one or more operations of the sieving system based on the determined data indicative of the powder mass.

Abstract: A powder reclamation system for reclaiming a metal powder from a metal powder processing device is provided. The powder reclamation system includes a filter housing defining an inlet and an outlet; a filtered reclaimed powder hopper in communication with the outlet of the filter housing for receiving a filtered reclaimed powder; a powder recirculation passageway configured for providing a flow of powder to a metal powder processing device, the powder recirculation passageway in flow communication with the filtered reclaimed powder hopper; a virgin powder hopper containing a virgin powder also in communication with the powder recirculation passageway; and a controller operable with the powder reclamation system for providing a mixture of the filtered reclaimed powder and the virgin powder through the powder recirculation passageway.

The powder sieving system includes a support structure; and a filter housing movable relative to the support structure, the filter housing defining an inlet and an outlet and comprising a broad frequency filter disposed between the inlet and the outlet, the broad frequency filter including: a first filter fixed relative to the filter housing, the first filter being substantially rigid; and a second filter coupled within the filter housing adjacent to the first filter, the second filter being substantially flexible such that the second filter is movable relative to the first filter within the filter housing when the filter housing moves relative to the support structure, the first filter and the second filter configured to restrict a first portion of a powder larger than a predetermined threshold from reaching the outlet.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to additive manufacturing systems, components therein, and methods for their use. The additive manufacturing system comprises a powder material handling system comprising a virgin powder inlet. The virgin powder inlet is coupled to a virgin powder drum and configured to receive a virgin powder from the virgin powder drum. The additive manufacturing system further comprises a liquid material handling system comprising a binder inlet. The binder inlet is coupled to a binder drum and configured to receive a binder from the binder drum. The additive manufacturing system also comprises an additive manufacturing machine coupled to the powder material handling system and the liquid material handling system. The additive manufacturing machine receives the virgin powder and the binder from the powder material handling and liquid material handling systems and is configured to manufacture a work product using the virgin powder and the binder.

Abstract: A powder sieving system is provided. The powder sieving system includes a filter housing including a filter for separating powder into a first portion larger than a predetermined size and a second portion smaller than a predetermined size, the powder being a reactive metal powder; a network of passageways configured to move the powder through the powder sieving system, the network of passageways located upstream of the filter housing and downstream of the filter housing, the network of passageways comprising one or more carrier gas passageways for primarily transporting a carrier gas flow and one or more powder passageways for transporting a mixture flow of carrier gas and the powder; and a first sensor in communication with a portion of the powder sieving system, the first sensor configured to monitor an amount of oxygen within the network of passageways, wherein the first sensor is an optical sensor.
