Abstract: Apparatus for production of a re-entrant article, such as a vehicle mud guard, comprising a frame on which is mounted a pair of freely movable trolleys, on each of which are grasping means for holding the respective opposite ends of a sheet to be worked. The trolleys are movable towards one another, in a horizontal plane and hold the sheet parallel to this plane. A former is mounted under the sheet and is raised to cause it to move across the plane to deform the sheet into its required re-entrant form.

Abstract: Apparatus for sequentially compacting a plurality of containers includes first and second plates each juxtaposed with respect to the other and having respective compacting surfaces, one of the plates being operated by a cam for effecting the reciprocal operation toward and away from the other plate so as to crush containers between the two compacting surfaces. A magazine is provided above the compacting plates for feeding the containers into the space therebetween, the magazine being pivoted above the plates such that downward rotation of the magazine occurs responsive to the weight of a predetermined number of the containers to operate a switch which energizes the cam mechanism.

Abstract: An improved method of forming and construction for a tabless, digitally openable sheet metal container component including at least two inwardly displaceable, adjacently disposed opening panels. The opening panels are substantially rigid and are located within an integral deflectable portion projecting outwardly from the general plane of the surface wall of the container component and having a common deflectable surface between the opening panels in the form of a raised bridge of metal therebetween designed to respond to digitally applied pressure creating stress sufficient to initiate substantially simultaneous fracture of frangible webs which define the loci of separation of the opening panels. The container component is formed by opposed die sets which, in a single operation, extrude metal from between opposing die surfaces to produce a thin residual of metal in the frangible web around each opening panel and form the deflectable portions around the opening panels.

Abstract: A storage bin for plural articles, such as citrus fruit, comprises a housing having an opening at the upper extremity thereof for gravity feeding the articles into the housing. The bin includes a downwardly sloped baffle in the housing for breaking the fall of the article to prevent damage to the articles, the baffle formed of plural, parallel steps, each step being spaced from adjacent steps a distance which permits the articles to pass there between in order to fill the void underneath the baffle.
