    摘要: A method and apparatus to determine the use status of a customer replaceable unit (CRU) in an electrophotographic printing machine. The CRU has a customer replaceable unit monitor (CRUM) which communicates with the machine controller upon insertion of the CRU into the machine. Based on the signal generated by the CRUM the controller can determine whether the CRU has been previously used in the machine or is new. Appropriate settings and adjustments can be made based on predetermined parameters according to use. In addition, if a CRU is new a cycle can be initiated in which a toner patch is developed and not transferred so that a layer of toner is deposited on the cleaning blade. This minimizes damage to a photoreceptor belt due to lack of lubrication of the cleaner blade and chatter that may result therefrom.

    摘要: A hybrid jumping development system utilizing two component developer and providing an improved device for controlling developed toner mass. Toner is metered onto a donor structure and a toner cloud is formed in a development nip between the donor structure and the charge retentive surface having a latent electrostatic image thereon. The toner cloud is formed by applying an alternating potential to the donor structure so as to cause the toner particles to jump off of the donor structure. The duty cycle of the AC potential is used to control the toner cloud and thus the amount of toner developed on the charge retentive surface.

    摘要: Disclosed is a process for generating consistent high quality images comprised of (1) providing a xerographic imaging or printing apparatus; (2) adding thereto a stable two component developer composition comprised of toner composition with an average particle diameter of from about 6 to about 10 microns with resin particles, first pigment particles, second magnetite pigment particles, which are present in a greater amount than the first pigment particles, and blended flow additive particles; and carrier particles consisting of a ferrite core, or a steel core, and a coating thereover selected from the group consisting of terpolymers of styrene, methacrylate, and triethoxysilane; and polymethacrylate, which coating has incorporated therein conductive particles; (3) forming electrostatic latent images or magnetic images in the apparatus; and (4) developing the images formed.
