Abstract:
Methods, and systems, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable mediums, including a method for determining codomain relationship measures between domains pairs. The method includes accessing domain data specifying first and second domains; for each first domain: determining a total number of image links on web pages on the first domain, each image link being a link to an image on a second domain; identifying second domains hosting images to which image links on web pages on the first domain link; for each second domain: determining a number of image links from web pages on the first domain linking to images on the second domain; determining a codomain relationship measure for the first and second domain based on the number of image links from web pages on the first domain linking to images on the second domain and the total number of image links on web pages on the first domain.
Abstract:
In general, one aspect described can be embodied in a method for determining a classification for a query. The method can include receiving a request to determine whether to assign a classification to a first query, identifying a plurality of search entities that are associated with the first query based upon data associated with each of the plurality of search entities and the first query, and determining whether to assign the classification to the first query based upon classifications for the identified search entities.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes systems and techniques relating to ranking search results of a search query. In general, the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in a computer-implemented method that includes determining a measure of relevance for a document result within a context of a search query for which the document result is returned, the determining being based on a first number in relation to a second number, the first number corresponding to longer views of the document result, and the second number corresponding to at least shorter views of the document result; and outputting the measure of relevance to a ranking engine for ranking of search results, including the document result, for a new search corresponding to the search query. The subject matter described in this specification can also be embodied in various corresponding computer program products, apparatus and systems.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for determining a measure of quality for a resource. In one aspect, a method includes determining a seed score for each seed resource in a set. The seed score for a seed resource can be based on a number of resources that include a link to the seed resource and a number of selections of the links A set of source resources is identified. A source score is determined for each source resource. The source score for a source resource is based on the seed score for each seed resource linked to by the source resource. Source-referenced resources are identified. A resource score is determined for each source-referenced resource. The resource score for a source-referenced resource can be based on the source score for each source resource that includes a link to the source-referenced resource.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus for determining resource quality based on resource competition. In an aspect, a method comprises: for each of a plurality of resource locators: generating first value for the resource locator that indicates, for a plurality of first sets of search results that each include the resource locator, a number of occurrences of other resource locators that were impressed and not selected when the resource locator was selected; generating a second value for the resource locator that indicates, for a plurality of second sets of search results that each include the resource locator, a number of occurrences of other resource locators that were selected when the resource locator was impressed and not selected; and generating, based on a difference between the first value and the second value, an adjustment factor for the resource locator for adjusting a score associated with the resource locator during a search operation.

Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for processing query information includes receiving query information at a server system. The query information includes a portion of a query from a search requestor. The method also includes obtaining a set of predicted queries relevant to the portion of the search requestor query based upon the portion of the query from the search requestor and data indicative of search requestor behavior relative to previously submitted queries. The method also includes providing the set of predicted queries to the search requestor.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for processing query information includes receiving data representative of a search query from a user search session. The method also includes identifying a plurality of search results based upon the search query. Each search result is associated with a plurality of user characteristics and data that represents requestor behavior relative to previously submitted queries associated with the respective search result. The method also includes ordering the plurality of user characteristics based upon the data that represents requestor behavior relative to previously submitted queries and the respective search result. The method also includes adjusting the ordered plurality of user characteristics based upon at least one predefined compatibility associated with the user characteristics. The method also includes ranking the search results based upon the adjusted plurality of user characteristics.
