    Abstract: An example folding device (100) includes a hinge assembly (106), a first assembly (102), and a second assembly (104). The hinge assembly (106) defines a first axis (108) and a second axis (110). The first assembly (102) includes a first arm (112), formed from a first material and rotatably connected to the hinge assembly about the first axis, a first main housing component (114), and a first divider (116) disposed between the first arm (112) and the first main housing component (114). The first main housing component (114) is formed from a second material that is different than the first material. The second assembly (104) includes a second arm (118), formed from the first material and rotatably connected to the hinge assembly about the second axis, a second main housing component (120), and a second divider (122) disposed between the second arm (118) and the second main housing component (120). The second main housing component (120) is formed from a second material that is different than the first material. Folding device (100) may include housing components formed from different materials with different properties (e.g. strength, weight, thermal conductivity, galvanic isolation, etc.) to address one or more of the disadvantages (e.g. thickness, weight, thermal performance, wireless transmission performance, reliability, complexity, cost, etc.) while achieving a continuous color appearance.

    Abstract: A modular electrical control system includes a switch module, having at least an “on” state and an “off” state, configured to draw power from an AC power source and to control power delivery to at least one external load, the switch module including a detector that determines whether a neutral wire is connected to the switch module, and a removable user interface module configured to connect to the switch module and receive power from the switch module, wherein the switch module delivers a first amount of power to the user interface module when the detector determines that the neutral wire is connected to the switch module, and delivers a second amount of power to the user interface module lower than the first amount of power when the detector determines that the neutral wire is not connected to the switch module.

    Abstract: This document describes an electronic device with a chassis and a vapor chamber positioned within the chassis. The vapor chamber includes a base plate and a cap portion attached to the base plate to form a sealed chamber. The base plate extends outward beyond the sealed chamber to form an extended portion with a first edge attached to a sidewall of the chassis and a second edge, in the form of a mechanical flange, connected to the chassis. The base plate with the extended portion forms the floor of a battery compartment within the chassis and provides a thermal path between the vapor chamber and the chassis. By integrating the vapor chamber into the structural components, the need for a separate mid-plate is eliminated, allowing for a thinner device that efficiently dissipates heat while maintaining structural rigidity.

    Abstract: This document describes systems and techniques directed at internal hardware configurations for foldable devices. In aspects, a foldable electronic device includes a housing, defining an internal cavity within which a battery is disposed, and one or more displays that are fixed to the housing, forming at least one internal cavity. The foldable electronic device further includes one or more battery cell tabs that are arranged in an unfolded configuration and extend from the battery to a power control module positioned underneath a display control module that is mounted to the display. Through such a configuration, an internal volume within the internal cavity can be more-efficiently occupied by increasing a battery capacity or reducing a dimensional profile of the foldable electronic device.
