摘要:
The present invention relates to a diagnostic device and a lamp ballast circuit. The lamp ballast circuit includes a first power switch, a second power switch, a lamp driven according to switching operations of the first and second power switches, a controller for controlling the switching operations of the first and second power switches, and a diagnostic device. The diagnostic device senses a voltage waveform applied to the lamp to determine an end of lamp life (EOLL) condition and an over-voltage, senses a filament voltage of the lamp to determine a filament connection state of the lamp, and determines an over-voltage of a voltage applied to the controller.

The present invention relates to a lamp ballast circuit and a driving method. The lamp ballast circuit includes a voltage detector for detecting the level of a first voltage corresponding to an input voltage, a controller including an oscillator for changing the oscillation frequency according to the level of the first voltage, and an output unit for changing the frequency of the output voltage in correspondence to the oscillation frequency. Therefore, a lamp ballast circuit having less power consumption and that is operable by a lesser input current with less THD and a driving method thereof are realized.

A circuit for detecting the end of life of a fluorescent lamp is provided. In this circuit, a rectifier rectifies a voltage signal detected from a ballast. A phase detector detects the phase of the voltage signal and outputs at least one phase detection signal. A signal separator separates the rectified voltage on a phase basis to generate first and second voltage signals in response to the phase detection signal. A first maximum level detector detects the maximum level of the first voltage signal. A second maximum level detector detects the maximum level of the second voltage signal. A first comparison unit compares the first and second maximum levels and detects whether or not the difference is higher than a predetermined allowable level. A controller determines whether or not the fluorescent lamp is at the end of life in response to the detection from the first comparison unit.

Provided is a function of providing a recordable time considering remaining memory capacity. To implement this function, an average reception rate of broadcasting data received for a predetermined time (e.g., several seconds) is calculated, and the recordable time is calculated using the calculated average reception rate and the remaining memory capacity. By doing this, even if the amount of broadcasting data to be recorded varies according to broadcasting programs, the amount of broadcasting data to be recorded can be predicted, and thereby, a user can efficiently record a desired broadcasting portion by actively determining whether the broadcasting is recorded.

A method of searching for a broadcasting channel of a specific program in a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) receiving terminal. The method includes detecting a program number input by a user, determining whether particular bits in a header of a received transport stream (TS) packet are identical to fixed values for the particular bits in the header, if the particular bits in the header are identical to the fixed values for the particular bits in the header, determining whether particular bits in a payload of the TS packet are identical to fixed values for the particular bits in the payload, and if the particular bits in the payload are identical to the fixed values for the particular bits in the payload, determining that the TS packet has program map table (PMT) information, and analyzing the PMT information to detect a packet identifier (PID) of an audio/video packetized elementary stream (PES) constituting the specific program.

Provided are a digital broadcasting system and a call originating method using a phone number provided as being included in a Transport Stream (TS) packet for a digital broadcasting player. The digital broadcasting system includes a digital broadcasting station for transmitting a Transport Stream (TS) packet including a phone number and a digital broadcasting player for receiving the TS packet, detecting the phone number from the received TS packet, and originating a call using the detected phone number if a user's call originating instruction is detected during playback of broadcasting. The call originating method during playback of broadcasting for the digital broadcasting player includes the steps of receiving a TS packet including a phone number, detecting the phone number from the received TS packet, and originating a call using the detected phone number if a user's call originating instruction is detected during playback of broadcasting. The phone number may be included in an adaptation field or an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) of the TS packet.

An apparatus and method for storing digital broadcast data in a digital broadcast receiving terminal. If the digital broadcast receiving terminal enters a weak electric field strength region during reception of digital broadcast data, digital broadcast receiving terminal stops the process of receiving the digital broadcast data so as to check whether digital broadcast receiving terminal re-enters again into the strong electric field strength region. Then, if the digital broadcast receiving terminal re-enters the strong electric field region, the terminal shifts a TS value of a received digital broadcast data frame to the value obtained by adding a frame interval of the digital broadcast data frames to the TS value of the previous data frame that had been completely stored just before the digital broadcast receiving terminal entered the weak electric field strength region. Thus, the invention enables the digital broadcast receiving terminal to drop the digital broadcast data frames received during the weak electric field strength intervals so that it may smoothly and continuously play back the digital broadcast data frames received only during the strong electric field strength intervals.
