The binocular telescope with internal focusing and articulated bridge contains as a joint focusing mechanism two setting rings which can be coupled and which are arranged co-axially on a central axis. In uncoupled condition each setting ring is allocated to a focusing member of a tube, so that focusing can be done independently from each other. In coupled condition both focusing members are shifted jointly by actuation of each of the setting rings. Thus, an unintentional adjustment of the relative positions of the two focusing members is impossible, and focusing of each focusing member in succession is possible.

The binocular telescope has in each barrel a focusing member (internal focusing) which is joined to a support guided on a guide rod. When a control knob is actuated, this support is displaced axially by means of a transmission bar. A driving pin, which engages into the focusing member, is integrally formed on the support for this purpose. A spring which interacts with the driving pin and acts upon the focusing member effects tilt-free guidance and prevents radial play, even with short guide lengths of the focusing member.

A monocular telescope having a constant length includes a lens mounted in a tube and interchangeable eyepieces to vary the magnification. Focusing is performed using a positioning member to move a focusing unit axially in the tube. The rate of focus adjustment is adaptable to the selected magnification due to the provision of a transmission gear having different diameter gear wheels arranged along the positioning member. The transmission gear can be operatively coupled to the interchangeable eyepiece.
