Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to providing an audible route sequence for guiding a user along a route. A user apparatus determines a user location, distance and directional aspects for one or more waypoint of the route, and a cadence. A distance aspect of a waypoint is a distance between the waypoint and the user location. A directional aspect of a waypoint is the angle between a reference heading and straight line connecting the waypoint to the user location. The cadence is determined based on the distance between consecutive waypoints. The user apparatus determines a route sequence based on the distance and directional aspects for the waypoints and the cadence. The route sequence comprises a sequence of audible pitches that each correspond to a waypoint of the route. The user apparatus causes the route sequence to by audibly provided via a sound device.

Abstract: An approach is provided for presenting a feedforward cue in a user interface before an upcoming vehicle event occurs. The approach involves retrieving map data covering an upcoming area in which a vehicle is to travel. The approach also involves extracting a feedforward cue from the map data, wherein the feedforward cue preemptively indicates an upcoming vehicle event that can have an effect on an experience that a user has while engaged in a non-driving activity in the vehicle. The approach further involves providing data for presenting the feedforward cue in a user interface before the upcoming vehicle event occurs.

Abstract: A navigation system, method and computer program product are provided to provide navigational assistance at a venue. The navigation system is configured to obtain information regarding the venue to be navigated by a user including a plurality of waypoints at the venue. The navigation system is also configured to determine a time to be expended by the user between respective pairs of the waypoints at the venue. Based on the time and a rate of travel of the user, the navigation system is configured to determine one or more points of interest that are accessible by the user between at least one pair of waypoints. The navigation system is further configured to cause presentation of a representation of the venue including the plurality of waypoints and the one or more points of interest that are accessible by the user between the at least one pair of waypoints.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided for providing an indication of parking space favorability proximate a vehicle and a routing algorithm to reach the most desirable parking spaces of a parking facility. A method may include: providing route guidance for a vehicle within a parking facility; determining a favorability of a parking space proximate the vehicle in response to receiving an indication of vehicle location within the parking facility; and providing an indication of the favorability of a parking space proximate the vehicle where the indication of favorability includes an indication of a distance from the vehicle to a pedestrian access point of the parking facility and an indication of a distance from the pedestrian access point to the final destination. The routing algorithm may compute a route through the most suitable clusters of available parking spaces based on favorable criteria such as distance, availability, and desirability.

Abstract: An approach is provided for privacy-sensitive sharing of navigation-based content between vehicles (e.g., autonomous vehicles, drones, devices, etc.). The approach involves initiating a pairing of a first vehicle with at least one second vehicle. The approach also involves determining a privacy level associated with the pairing. The approach further involves determining a granularity level for sharing the navigation-based content of the first vehicle with the at least one second vehicle based on the privacy level. The approach further involves granting an access right to the at least one second vehicle to access the navigation-based content at the determined granularity level. The at least one second vehicle is then guided based on the navigation-based content of the first vehicle at the determined granularity level.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for managing a parking facility, and specifically generating dynamic paths to guide a user in a parking facility is provided. The method comprises identifying an access point in the parking facility suitable to be utilized by the user. The method further comprises receiving data related to one or more of vacant parking spots and navigable gaps between parked vehicles in the parking facility. The method further comprises determining a path to be traversed by the user for reaching the access point, wherein the determined path, when traversed, comprises navigating through one or more of the vacant parking spots and the navigable gaps between parked vehicles. The method further comprises sharing the determined path with the user via a user interface. The method further comprises instructing vehicles in the parking facility to park leaving gaps at least equal to a threshold distance.
