Abstract: In an example, a print system identifies a number of drops to eject corresponding to an expected variation in print fluid based on media temperature and generate print instructions to operate a fluid eject device to that effect. In another example, a print system includes a temperature engine to identify a temperature, a compensator engine to identify a number of drops of print fluid based on the media temperature, and a control engine to generate print instructions to operate a fluid ejection device to place the number of drops of print fluid on media.

Abstract: Method and devices for dynamically preventing printing errors caused by a media deformation are disclosed. In one example, a pen to print media space (PPS) distance is measured. A media deformation is identified in response to measuring the PPS distance. A corrective function is identified in response to identifying the media deformation. The corrective function identified is then performed. The proposed method provides for consistent quality across a print.

Abstract: A method of generating an image on a transparent or semitransparent substrate, the method comprising analyzing a first image to be printed on a first side of the substrate to identify a region associated with a predominant color, printing, on the first side of the substrate a color patch with the identified predominant color, printing, on a second side of the substrate, a test color pattern overlapping with the color patch on the first side of the substrate, determining, in a transmission geometry, a color distribution in the color patch, and generating from the determined color distribution, for the region associated with the predominant color identified in the first image, a transmission mode color profile for printing on the second side of the substrate.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling a printing device are described. In examples, a printing device has a first printhead interface, a first printhead for use in applying a treatment fluid to a print medium and a second printhead interface, a second printhead for use in applying ink to the print medium. The first and second printhead interfaces are consecutively aligned along a common axis and each printhead has a plurality of nozzles that extend in a direction of relative movement of the print medium in relation to said printheads. An example apparatus then has a controller arranged to, when the printheads are installed, configure activation of nozzles of at least one of the first and second printheads in the direction of relative movement to spatially offset useable nozzles of the first printhead with respect to useable nozzles of the second printhead in said direction.

Abstract: A method of digital printing is disclosed in which a digital image to be printed has at least one region having pixels comprising superpositioned layers of a first ink and a second ink. The method includes producing at least one sample print and calibrating misalignment of the superpositioned layers at a plurality of calibration locations on the sample print. The resultant misalignment data is provided to a morphing program to pre-deform the digital image to provide a modified digital image which compensates for misalignment during printing. The image is then printed using the modified digital image. An apparatus and a machinereadable storage medium comprising instructions executable by a processor are also disclosed.

Abstract: An example of a printing apparatus comprising a scanning printhead and a controller is disclosed. The scanning printhead comprises a plurality of nozzles to print using a mask comprising a ramp area and non-ramp area. A first subset of nozzles of the plurality of nozzles is assigned to the ramp area and the second subset of nozzles of the plurality of nozzles is assigned to the non-ramp area. The controller is to calculate a number of spits of a nozzle from the second subset of nozzles for a pass. The controller is also to calculate a number of spits of a nozzle from the first subset of nozzles for the pass based on the number of spits of the nozzle from the second subset of nozzles. The controller is further to instruct the nozzle from the first subset of nozzles to eject online an amount of a composition on a service zone based on the number of spits of the first subset of nozzles.
