    Abstract: An example system comprising a pressure sensor array, a proximity sensor comprising circuitry to sense an object approaching the pressure sensor array based on a change in a resonance frequency of the proximity sensor, and a controller to receive from the proximity sensor the sensed change in the resonance frequency and designate the pressure sensor array as active responsive to the sensed resonance frequency being below a threshold or inactive responsive to the sensed resonance frequency being above the threshold, wherein a data transmission rate of the active pressure sensor array is greater than a data transmission rate of the inactive pressure sensor array.

    Abstract: Example shoe manufacturing methods and related computer readable medium for implementing a portion of said manufacturing methods are disclosed herein. In some examples, the method includes producing a lower portion of a last based on data relating to a foot of a user. In addition, the method includes placing an upper member about the last such that a lasting of the upper member extends over the lower portion of the last. Further, the method includes producing a midsole element based on the data relating to the foot of the user, and attaching the midsole element to the upper member such that the lasting is disposed between the lower portion of the last and the midsole element.

    Abstract: In some examples, an apparatus comprises a platform having an upper surface to contact a plantar surface of a human foot positioned on the platform, a first pressure sensor to sense a pressure applied to the upper surface by a heel of the human foot, and a first probe extending through an opening in the platform and movable vertically upward through the opening to probe an adipose layer on a bottom of the heel. The apparatus also comprises a first actuator to displace the first probe upwardly against the adipose layer with a predetermined force, and a linear displacement sensor to sense a vertical displacement of the first probe.
