Abstract: A building platform substrate for 3D printing in a Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) 3D printer is disclosed. The platform substrate includes a paper layer that is re-pulpable in water, a water-soluble top coat layer on one side of the paper layer, a water-soluble adhesive layer on an other side of the paper layer, and a lay flat release liner on an exposed surface of the adhesive layer. A 3D printer having a removable Z-axis platen for accepting the building platform substrate and a method of manufacturing the platform substrate are also disclosed.

Abstract: An additive manufacturing device for forming a three-dimensional object includes a parking station for receiving a number of removably seated modules and a movable carriage having a carriage latching mechanism for receiving one of the removably seated modules. Movement of the carriage to a module transfers the module to the carriage.
