Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a dual-part hinge assembly for a portable electronic device. According to one embodiment, the portable computing device includes a display and a base housing connected via the dual-part hinge assembly. Furthermore, the dual-part hinge assembly comprises a first portion and a second portion that extends behind the first portion when the display transitions to an open position so as to provide stability for the computing device.
