Abstract:
Systems and methods for displaying position sensitive datalink messages on avionics displays are provided. In one embodiment, a flight deck instrument display system for an aircraft comprises: a flight plan display screen that displays a graphical representation of at least a part of an aircraft's planned flight path together with symbology representing a position of the aircraft with respect to the aircraft's planned flight path; wherein the flight plan display screen further displays at least one symbol positioned along the graphical representation of at least a part of the aircraft's planned flight path that indicates a point of applicability for a received uplink datalink message.
Abstract:
A method for communicating using an architecture compatible with a multi-function control and display unit (MCDU) onboard an aircraft is provided. The method intercepts MCDU format communications transmitted by a plurality of avionics systems to the MCDU using a plurality of MCDU communication connections, by at least one processor; presents the intercepted MCDU format communications, via a graphical user interface (GUI) presented by a display device communicatively coupled to the at least one processor; receives user input data via the GUI, wherein the user input data comprises at least one of data entry, user selections, and user commands associated with the plurality of avionics systems; and transmits the user input data to the plurality of avionics systems using the plurality of MCDU communication connections, by a communication device communicatively coupled to the at least one processor.

Abstract:
A method to provide access to air traffic control centers to a crew member for context management (CM) logon is provided. The method includes accessing a flight plan for an aircraft at a processor; accessing a listing of air traffic control centers; generating a subset of the air traffic control centers at the processor; and displaying the subset of the air traffic control centers as at least a part of a prioritized listing of the air traffic control centers on a display for the crew member. The generating is based on at least one of: an ATC-center authority coverage area overlapping a flight path associated with the flight plan; and a pre-selected distance from the flight path.
