Abstract:
A system and method for providing the information contained in instrument procedure charts in a more intuitive and easier to comprehend manner is provided. The provided enhanced instrument procedure visualization system displays a dynamic three-dimensional view of a selected instrument procedure, and incorporates time-relevant information from weather and traffic sources. The provided enhanced instrument procedure visualization system further allows a pilot to scroll forward and backward in time to review and study the complete instrument procedure.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for programming a flight management system in response to a voice input. The voice input is validated (the pilot spoken vocabulary is thereby filtered (e.g., adapted) to improve recognition accuracy and reduce false positives) by comparing the current operational state of the aircraft (for example, climb, level flight, descent, speed, altitude, and heading), operation validities and availabilities (for example, operations allowed and not allowed) based on the flight management system planned and predicted lateral and vertical trajectory of the flight route (flight plan) from origin/present position to destination, and the requested action being taken.

Systems and methods for controlling a flight deck multifunction control display unit are disclosed. In various embodiments, the systems may comprise a flight management system or other MCDU driven devices, a command database that stores a plurality of voice commands and a plurality of multifunction control display unit commands. In various embodiments, each voice command is associated with one of the plurality of multifunction control display unit commands. The systems may further comprise a pilot voice interface configured to receive a voice command from a pilot and transmit the voice command to the multifunction control display unit. The multifunction control display unit can receive the voice command from the pilot voice interface and, in response, access the command database to identify a multifunction control display unit command in the command database that is associated with the voice command.

A wearable device is provided to be worn by an operator of an aircraft. The wearable device includes a communication unit configured to receive aircraft parameters from an aircraft system; a database configured to store a rule set that defines at least a first rule with a first alert condition and a first response associated with the first alert condition; a processing unit coupled to the communication unit and the database, the processing unit configured to evaluate the first alert condition in view of the aircraft parameters and to initiate the first response when the aircraft parameters violate the first condition; and an alert unit coupled to the processing unit and configured to communicate the first response to the operator.

The method includes receiving speech data that is generated by a speech recognition module; searching data structures of a definition file for a speech tag based on the speech data, wherein the data structures define features of a display screen; and determining an action associated with the speech tag; and at least one of communicating data to an application of the system and generating display data based on the action.

A vehicular situation display including a user interface, a display, and a processor is provided to modify a vertical profile of a flight plan. The processor may generate vertical profile display data on the display based, receive a request to edit the vertical profile, expand the vertical profile display data on the display, generate a first movable reference line corresponding to one of an altitude, a distance and a time, receive, from the user interface, a flight plan change request to change an altitude, distance or time of the flight plan, the altitude, distance or time corresponding to the first movable reference line, generate a preview of an updated flight plan, and transmit the approval of the displayed updated flight plan to a flight management system, the flight management system configured to update the flight plan of the aircraft based upon the command to change the flight plan.
