Abstract: A system includes a reversible proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell stack configured to receive oxygen and to controllably receive water and hydrogen, an electrical bus for coupling to a vehicle engine to receive electricity, the electrical bus coupled to the reversible fuel cell stack to controllably receive electricity from the fuel cell stack and provide electricity to the reversible fuel cell stack, and a hydrogen storage unit coupled to controllably receive hydrogen from the fuel cell stack, provide hydrogen to the fuel cell stack, and to provide hydrogen to a hydrogen gas powered electricity generator unit to couple to the electrical bus.

Abstract: A vapor cycle cooling system includes first and second compressor systems in parallel with one another, each compressor system including a motor, a motor controller, and a first compressor in series with a second compressor; a condenser fluidically coupled to each compressor system; a filter drier, in series with, and fluidically coupled to the condenser; a first expansion device in series with, and fluidically coupled to, a flash heat exchanger, the flash heat exchanger fluidically coupled to a second expansion device, the second expansion device fluidically coupled to a first evaporator, the first evaporator fluidically coupled to each compressor system; a system controller electrically coupled to each motor controller; and a motor and motor controller cooling loop fluidically coupled to the filter drier and each motor, wherein the vapor cycle cooling system is configured to cool one or more thermal loads for a vehicle.

Abstract: A cooling system in which an ACS (air cycle system) turbine may be driven by high pressure air from a turbo-fan engine and a VCS (vapor cycle system) having an evaporator and a VCS refrigerant compressor may be driven by the ACS turbine. Fluid of the chilled fluid reservoir, which may be chilled fuel, may be circulated through and cooled in the evaporator. In some embodiments, the ACS turbine may be coupled to the VCS refrigerant compressor by a magnetic coupling.
