Abstract: A method of communicating messages is provided. The method comprises receiving a message from a first station; determining whether the message requires clearance from a second station; displaying clearance intended message determined to require clearance from the second station to a consumer of the message; automatically translating the clearance intended message to a format understood by the second station; and routing the translated message to the second station upon selection of the clearance intended message by the consumer of the message.

Abstract: A system and method of storing and recovering a flight plan includes loading flight plan data into working memory of an aircraft flight management system (FMS). When the FMS determines that a storage triggering event has occurred, a copy of at least a portion of the flight plan data is transmitted from the working memory to a non-volatile storage medium. A display command is supplied to a display device, at least following recovery of the FMS from a severe reset, that causes the display device to render a retrieval prompt. A retrieval command is received at the FMS, via a user input device, that causes the FMS to retrieve the at least a portion of the flight plan data from the non-volatile memory and store it in the working memory.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for management of an active flight plan during operation of an aircraft. The systems include a flight management system, a communications system configured to receive flight mission data from external sources, a display device, and a controller. The controller is configured to, by a processor: receive the flight mission data that includes recommended updates to the active flight plan, generate an inactive flight plan including the active flight plan modified based on the recommended updates, access the inactive flight plan to determine an impact of the recommended updates on the active flight plan, render a graphical image on the display device that presents a contextual preview of the recommended updates and the impact thereof, and in response to acceptance of the recommended updates, modify the active flight plan based on the recommended updates or replace the active flight plan with the inactive flight plan.
