    Abstract: Example precoding indication manner determining methods and apparatus are described. One example method includes: A radio access network (RAN) device obtains information about an uplink channel of a terminal device. The RAN device determines a scheduled uplink bandwidth and a quantity of uplink data flows of the terminal device based on the information about the uplink channel of the terminal device. Then, the RAN device determines an uplink precoding indication manner of the terminal device based on the scheduled uplink bandwidth and the quantity of uplink data flows of the terminal device. The RAN device sends first information to the terminal device, where the first information indicates the uplink precoding indication manner.

    Abstract: A reference signal indication method and an apparatus are disclosed. The method includes: a terminal device receives a plurality of pieces of first information from a plurality of network devices, where each of the plurality of pieces of first information indicates that at least one reference signal of the corresponding network device is for estimating a joint equivalent channel; receives a plurality of pieces of second information from the plurality of network devices, where each of the plurality of pieces of the second information indicates a port of the at least one reference signal; receives a plurality of pieces of coherent joint transmission data from the plurality of network devices, where one of the plurality of pieces of coherent joint transmission data includes at least one data stream and the at least one corresponding reference signal; and determines at least one joint equivalent channel based on the at least one reference signal of the plurality of network devices.
