Abstract: Example status prompt multimedia playing methods and apparatus are described. One example method includes receiving a first multimedia request by a status prompt application server, where the first multimedia request includes a non-idle identifier and is sent by a TAS. The status prompt application server sends a first multimedia response including a status prompt multimedia session description protocol (SDP) to the TAS, and receives a first multimedia acknowledgement message that includes a calling-side multimedia SDP and that is sent by the TAS. In this way, the status prompt application server obtains the calling-side multimedia SDP, and implements negotiation and acknowledgement of multimedia capability sets between the status prompt application server and a calling terminal device. The status prompt application server can play corresponding status prompt multimedia for the calling terminal device based on different non-idle identifiers. This implements playing of personalized status prompt multimedia in a non-idle state scenario.

Abstract: A content sending method includes: a server obtains video media content and additional information content, indicates a calling terminal to complete resource reservation for transmitting the video media content and the additional information content, transmits the video media content to a first port set of the calling terminal, and transmits the additional information content to a second port set of the calling terminal. In this way, two types of content streams are transmitted to the calling terminal by using channels of the two port sets, and a function of providing an additional service in a process of playing a video ring back tone is implemented.

Abstract: One example method for playing a multimedia customized ringing signal and customized alerting tone includes receiving, by an application server, an initial call request from a calling terminal, sending the initial call request to a called terminal, receiving a provisional response in response to the initial call request from the called terminal, determining customized ring signal media resource information based on the provisional response, sending a first media session update message that carries the customized ring signal media resource information to the called terminal; and receiving a first response from the called terminal, where the initial call request includes SDP information of the calling terminal, and the first response includes a result of a customized ringing signal media resource negotiation between the application server and the called terminal.
