Abstract:
Multi-component system for modifying, degrading or bleaching lignin, lignin-containing materials or similar substances, includes (a) if appropriate at least one oxidation catalyst; (b) at least one suitable oxidizing agent; and (c) at least one mediator, wherein the mediator is chosen from the group consisting of N-aryl-N-hydroxyamides.
Abstract:
A process for the production of lignolytical enzymes using Phanerochaete chrysosporium which includes placing a culture of the pocket rot fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium into a closed fermentation vessel which has no stirring mechanism. Pellets of Phanerochaete chrysosporium are produced in the vessel by rotating and slewing the vessel, and enzyme is then harvested. An apparatus for carrying out the process includes a cardanic mount for freely rotatably and slewably suspending the vessel.
Abstract:
A process for modifying, breaking down or bleaching lignin, material containing lignin or like substances uses oxidation catalysts and suitable oxidizing agents wherein these catalysts are used in combination with aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, hetercyclic or aromatic compounds containing NO, NOH or (A). ##STR1##
Abstract:
A process and an apparatus capable of removing and/or transforming lignin or its degradation products present in material containing lignocellulose. In the present process, a redox potential is set between 200 and 500 mV by the addition to an acid aqueous solution, which contains lignitic raw materials, of oxidizing agents and/or reducing agents and/or salts and/or phenolic compounds. The lignin degrading reaction and its attendant simultaneous bleaching effect is initiated by the addition of enzymes, microorganisms, animal or plant cells. Continuous stirring allows the reaction to be maintained for several hours at a value that fluctuates about a constant redox potential value, and a constant temperature.
Abstract:
A new enzyme-based process for oxidation and/or bleaching is described, comprising of oxidoreductases such as laccases and/or peroxidases—seperately or in combination—in the presence of their respective co-substrates like O2, air, H2O2, organic peroxides, peracids etc. and comprising of enhancer compounds from the class of oxocarbons, from the class of urazoles and hydrazides, from the class of hydantoins and the class of nitril (Cyan)-compounds, and comprising additionally of carbonyl compounds such as ketones, aldehyds, whereby the combination of enzyme, co-substrate, enhancer compound and carbonyl compound generate active oxygen species like dioxiranes, dioxetanes, peroxy-compounds etc. or form other reactive compounds or transition states like radicals (kation radicals, anion radicals) or reactive (red/ox-active) neutral compounds as oxidizing and/or bleaching agents.

Abstract:
The invention relates to methods for oxidizing (redox reactions, preferably pulp delignification/bleaching), for carrying out coupling reactions (grafting polymer materials) or for carrying out cross-linking reactions on natural (i.e. having natural origin) or artificial (i.e. synthetically produced polymers) monomers to polymers or of mixtures of natural and artificial polymers or of fibre materials, of lignocellulose-containing, cellulose-containing or protein-like natural polymers or fibre materials such as pulp, textiles like cotton and wool. The invention is characterized in that 1) these oxidation, coupling or cross-linking reactions are carrying out using hydrolases such as lipases, esterases, proteases, amidases, transferases, acylases, glycosidases or glycotransferases or oxidoreductases, such as preferably peroxidases, chloroperoxidases and laccases, either individually or in combination with one another; and 2) that these reactions ( oxidation, coupling or cross-linking reactions) are carrying out with the above mentioned substances and/or with property-changing substances such as monomer to polymer substances (natural or synthetic) either simultaneously or one after the other using specific enzyme-activated enhancer substances and/or coupling substances.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for the production of lignolytic enzymes by means of white rot fungi. In the process, a culture composed of the fungi of the subclass of the Aphyllophorales is placed in a closed fermentation vessel filled with a nutrient solution and the suspension is gently moved for the production of pellets of Aphyllophorales, such that there cannot be any shearing forces which would destroy the pellets, wherein the enzymes are produced with the addition of yeasts or benzaldehydes, chlorobenzaldehydes, nitrobenzaldehydes, hydroxybenzaldehydes, aminobenzaldehydes, methylbenzaldehydes, diaryls or triaryls, dialkylalkanes, trialkyl alkanes, open-chained or cyclic imines or derivatives of the aforementioned substances as inductive compounds, wherein the induction may take place one time or several times, and the enzymes are subsequently harvested.
