    摘要: Nonmutagenic, highly twisted derivatives of benzidine of the following formula ##STR1## useful as intermediates for the preparation of various organic pigments were obtained. The benzidine derivatives are significantly rotated about the biphenyl linkage due to bulky substituents at the R.sub.2 and/or R.sub.4 positions. Bisazomethine, disaoacetoacetanilide, disazopyrazolone, disazobenzimidazolone and disazonaphthol pigments prepared from these highly twisted benzidines exhibit hypsochromic spectral shifts relative to pigments prepared from other benzidine compounds with less twist about the biphenyl linkage, for instance, other benzidine compounds in which all four R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 represent H. Greenish-yellow, yellow, orange, red and brown pigments obtained from the twisted benzidines are nonmutagenic in the standard Ames test and Prival modification.

    摘要: The present invention provides a sock containing a coating applied to at least a portion of a surface of the sock for sensing pressure points on a patient's foot. The coating material comprises a pressure-sensitive film comprised of oxygen-sensitive photo luminescent probe molecules dispersed within a polymer matrix, and, optionally, an inorganic pigment. Areas of increased pressure can be detected by correspondence to areas on the film of increased fluorescence intensity. The coating material can also be comprised of a coloring agent or dye such that after the sock has been worn for a period of time, in those areas of the foot susceptible to pressure points, the coating material transfers from the interior of the sock and adheres to the foot in those points. The present invention is particularly applicable to persons having diabetic neuropathic feet wherein portions of the foot may be insensitive to pressure.

    摘要: A novel cationic bleach activator having an enhanced hydrolytic stability is provided. The novel cationic bleach activator also leads to a reduction in strength loss of cotton fibers compared to conventional hot peroxide bleaching, and achieves this reduction in strength loss without a loss of whiteness. Bleaching compositions and detergent compositions comprising the novel cationic bleach activator also are provided. A method of bleaching cellulosic fibers, such as cotton fibers, and a method for removing a stain or discoloration from an article are further provided.
