    摘要： A fixing unit where an operating force for releasing a nip can be reduced with a small-sized configuration. The fixing unit has a heating roller including a heating element, a pressure belt, pressure arms, pressure springs, and nip load releasing units. The pressure belt is supported in an intermediate position between the pressure arms 3. One end portions of the pressure arms are brought into contact with the pressure springs respectively. The other end portions of the pressure arms are brought into contact with the nip load releasing units respectively. When a load applied to the pressure belt is released by the nip load releasing units, the other end portions of the pressure arms move away from the heating roller.

    摘要： Two pairs of legs are fitted under two side plates of an electrophotography apparatus, respectively. The two legs in one pair fitted under one of the side plates are disposed on either side of and are spaced from a point which is a cross point of a line joining these two legs, and a line perpendicular to this line, which perpendicular line passes through a projected point obtained by projecting the center of gravity of the electrophotography apparatus onto a horizontal plane on which the apparatus is set up. The two legs in the pair fitted under the other one of the side plates are disposed on either side of and are spaced from a point which is a cross point of a line passing these two legs and a line perpendicular to this line, which perpendicular line passes through the projected point of the center of gravity. The ratio of a shorter distance to a longer distance, of two distances: one between the two legs in a pair and the other between the two legs in the other pair is set to a value of 1/5 to 1/3. With such a arrangement, a defect in an image caused by a distortion in said side plates, due to a position change in the center of gravity of the electrophotography apparatus can be prevented.

    摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a sheet feed device to feed a sheet along a sheet feed path, a sheet cutting device including a cutter and a cutter holder to cut the sheet to a desired length, a controller to control the sheet feed device and the cutter holder. The cutter holder holds the cutter and is reciprocally movable in a width direction of the sheet perpendicular to a sheet feed direction. The cutter holder, after cutting the sheet, is movable in the width direction with the cutter holder retracted away from the sheet feed path in a thickness direction of the sheet perpendicular to both the sheet feed direction and the width direction. The controller controls the sheet feed device to feed the sheet while the cutter holder moves in the width direction with the cutter holder retracted away from the sheet feed path in the thickness direction.
