Abstract:
An improved quick clip type connecter block for telephone use in which exposed metallic terminals are mounted upon discrete supporting structure each separated from adjacent structure by a substantial air gap to inhibit the formation of short circuits by increasing the effective length of the path over which progressively growing corrosed materials must travel to establish a conductive path between adjacent terminals.
Abstract:
A male base subscriber pair protector module in which substantially all of the internal components thereof are assembled upon an axially elongated base element prior to insertion within a module housing, thereby facilitating manufacture and allowing the use of a wide variety of existing components which are readily adapted for such assembly.
Abstract:
An improved telephone protector module construction for use with individual subscriber circuits in which the inner end wall having contact means thereon is recessed to accommodate a sealing gasket which surrounds the contact and ground pins, and provides a resilient seal against the corresponding surfaces of the engaged protector block to prevent accumulation of dirt, dust and vermin when installation is made in only partially shielded outdoor locations. The seal is formed from closed cell synthetic resinous sponge rubber so as to be non-absorbtive of ambient moisture while effectively closing the gap normally existing between the inner wall surface of the module and the corresponding surface of the block.
Abstract:
A subscriber pair protector module of gas tube type in which the heat coil assembly is supplemented by the provision of a planar fusible member placed in direct contact with the gas tube elements to provide a heat sink for a limited period of time to protect the module until the heat coil assembly becomes operative, thereby preventing damage to the synthetic resinous housing element of the module which would interfere with its subsequent removal. An improved gas tube element is also disclosed having recesses disposed in the end surfaces thereof to prevent total shorting action by the heat coil element until the planar fusible member has melted. An improved gas tube element is also disclosed having recesses disposed in the end surfaces thereof to prevent total shorting action by the heat coil element until the planar fusible member has melted.
Abstract:
A flexible synthetic resinous hinged cover for use in protecting the exposed face of a telephone connector block having connector terminals disposed in a recessed area in said face. The cover is flexible to form an inwardly extending V fold engageable within a corresponding slot or groove in the block to obtain a high degree of rigidity and prevent accidental dislodgment of the cover with respect to the block. The outer surface of the cover may be provided with delineated areas for inscribing circuit identifying notation.
Abstract:
A fail-safe secondary fuse device for assuring the grounding of a conductive gas tube used in modular protection devices for individual subscriber circuit pairs. The device resiliently engages each of the three end and center electrodes normally provided on the tube. In the case of the end electrodes, the device is insulated from direct electrical communication by a fusible sleeve of insulative material which fuses under heat emanating from the gas tube with the occurrence of continued current overload.
