Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus for managing alerts pertaining to additions of users to a user group in a computer network may include a processor and a memory, which may have stored thereon machine readable instructions that are to cause the processor to, during a learning period, identify an entity that added a user to the user group during the learning period and enter an identification of the identified entity into an allowed entity list for the user group. Following the learning period, the instructions are to cause the processor to identify a user addition event that indicates that an adding entity added another user to the user group, determine whether the adding entity is in the allowed entity list, and manage issuance of an alert regarding the user addition event based upon whether the adding entity is in the allowed entity list to reduce a number of issued alerts.

Abstract: A programmed network device and corresponding method are provided for rebuilding a multicast state upon experiencing a failure in a network using a protocol independent multicast (PIM) protocol. The method includes receiving updates to an outgoing list (Olist) for a given multicast route (mroute) at the network component and updating a PIM cache Olist in the network component with the received updates. During a state of recovering from the failure, the method includes determining whether the PIM cache Olist matches a centralized database Olist located in a centralized database. When a match is found, the method includes publishing an mroute state from the PIM cache to the centralized database.

Abstract: Programmed border gateway devices and a corresponding method are provided for stitching together heterogeneous multicast domains within a network. The method includes programming static multicast routes associated with a given multicast flow into border gateway devices. Based on the static multicast routes, the border gateway devices may send join requests to one or more network devices in their domains and receive a multicast stream in response. The border gateway devices may forward the received multicast stream to other border gateway devices, which may deliver the multicast stream to one or more receiving devices in their respective network domains.

Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to establishing a layer 3 (L3) Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation Group (MC-LAG). In an example, a common IP address and a common MAC address may be associated with a primary network device and a secondary network device. A layer 3 MC-LAG may be established in a multi-homing configuration between the primary network device and the secondary network device to provide a redundant L3 connectivity to a core network device in a network. A dedicated communication link may be established between the primary network device and the secondary network device, for the primary network device and the secondary network device to share network packets.
