    摘要： An apparatus for reading out textual information with synthesized speech comprises: a buffer memory 24 for buffering character codes of textual information; a keyword/ read-out region storing unit 22 which stores previously specified keyword and region of the textual information, the region being to be read out and including the keyword; a read-out region retrieving unit 23 which retrieves the keyword from the buffered character codes, and which, when the keyword exists, causes character codes corresponding to the read-out region, to be outputted from the buffer memory 24; a speech synthesizing unit 26 which converts the outputted character codes into a synthesized speech signal; and a loudspeaker 14 for outputting the synthesized speech signal in the form of synthesized speech. In textual information of various kinds such as textual information received by a teletext multiplex FM radio, or that of an electronic newspaper, only a portion which relates to a keyword that is previously specified by the user is sounded with synthesized speech, thereby enabling the user to obtain only required information.

    摘要： In an automatic dial telephone that is usuable in a motor vehicle, when a voice input is provided during a period in which input of the names of called parties is awaited, a voice pattern of the name of the called party is compared with reference patterns of called parties stored in reference pattern storing device, to determine the degree of the similarity therebetween. The names of the called parties are output to a user in the order of decreasing degree of similarity. Each time the name of a called party is output, a command word for confirmation is a waited from a user for a predetermined time period. When a voice confirmation command is input and is recognized during this waiting period, a telephone number corresponding to the name of the called party is supplied to a channel. Consequently, the command word for confirmation may be input only if the name of the called party outputted is one desired by the user. Sensors continually monitor the driving condition of the motor vehicle in which the telephone is installed. When the operation of the steering wheel or brakes of the motor vehicle exceeds a predetermined threshold or the speed of the motor vehicle is excessive, the sensors generate safety signals that inhibit the operation of the telephone.

    摘要： 4-Alkoxyanilines are obtained industrially advantageously by catalytically hydrogenating a nitrobenzene in the presence of a noble metal catalyst in a mixed solvent containing a lower aliphatic alcohol, sulfuric acid, and water or a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid or both to induce hydrogenation and a Bamberger-type rearrangement reaction. The mixed solvent contains at least 10 moles, preferably 30 to 60 moles, of the lower aliphatic alcohol per mole of the nitrobenzene, 1 to 10 moles, preferably 2 to 7 moles, of sulfuric acid per mole of the nitrobenzene, and 2 to 30% by weight, preferably 3 to 10% by weight, of water, the lower aliphatic carboxylic acid or both.
