Abstract: Systems and methods of associating beds and/or rooms and/or patients are provided. One system and method involves using a signature of emitted light to determine a location of a patient bed in a healthcare facility. Another system and method involves reading a bar code from an array of redundant bar codes. Still another system and method involves manually entering location information on a graphical user interface of a patient bed for subsequent transmission. A further system and method involves sending bed ID and location ID along parallel paths from two independent circuits on a patient bed for receipt by two different transceivers and ultimately by two different remote computers that cooperate to associate the bed ID with the location ID. Still a further system and method involves using circuitry on a bed to mutate a received location ID and a bed ID into a single unique mutated ID such as by adding the location ID and bed ID and then performing a hashing operation.

Abstract: A patient support system includes a frame assembly and a support surface system configured to support a person thereon. The support surface system includes a surface assembly including a spacer material and a thermoelectric device and a control assembly including a blower and a power source. A tether is coupled to the control assembly and the surface assembly. The tether includes an airflow channel and an electrical connection. A controller is communicatively coupled to the support surface system. The controller is configured to selectively activate a blower to direct air through the airflow channel and through the spacer material to form a microclimate management layer in the surface assembly and selectively activate a power source to drive a current through the thermoelectric device for temperature regulation.

Abstract: A transport system for a medical facility includes a support apparatus including a frame assembly. The frame assembly includes a frame connector. A care cart assembly includes a cart connector selectively coupled with the frame connector. The care cart assembly includes a body defining receiving spaces that are configured to receive care modules. Wheels are coupled to the body and configured to engage an underlying floor surface. A power drive system includes a power drive wheel operable between a retracted position spaced from the underlying floor surface and a deployed position engaging the underlying floor surface. The care cart assembly is configured to drive movement of the support apparatus with the power drive system when coupled with the support apparatus and when the power drive wheel is engaging the underlying floor surface.
