A method and system for designing a test circuit in a System on Chip (SOC) includes identifying the test design constraints of the test circuit. The SOC is partitioned logically into a first set of logic blocks and a second set of logic blocks. A first set of scan chains is inserted in the first set of logic blocks, and a second set of scan chains is inserted in the second set of logic blocks, based on the test design constraints. Bypass circuits are inserted in the paths of the second set of scan chains, which are capable of bypassing at least one logic block of the second set of logic blocks during testing of the SOC.

The fan-out nodes can be cascaded in multiple parent/child relationships and can support full replication or a subset of the parent data. Each child/parent relationship is defined by an agreement. Each fan-out node replicates changes to their immediate children and parent based upon the change details and the configured agreement, distributing the replication load.

In one set of embodiments, a changelog record can be received from a directory server, where the directory server is associated with a proprietary changelog format, and where the changelog record is formatted according to the proprietary changelog format. The received changelog record can then be translated into a virtualized changelog record that is formatted according to a standard changelog format, and the virtualized changelog record can be sent to a consuming client. With this virtualization capability, the client does not need to be concerned with, or even aware of, the proprietary changelog mechanisms/formats that may be used by different directory servers in a multi-server deployment.
