摘要： A method for producing a preparation that can be used in the prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases, including periodontitis caused by P. gingivalis. Specifically, the invention provides a method for producing a hop preparation comprising the following steps (1) to (3): (1) adjusting the pH of a polyphenol-containing liquid prepared from hop bracts to 6 to 7 and passing the liquid through a gel-type synthetic resin to allow components including useful substances to be adsorbed onto the resin; (2) washing the resin obtained in the step (1) with a 30 to 60% aqueous ethanol solution to elute unwanted substances, leaving the useful substances adsorbed to the resin; and (3) washing the resin obtained in the step (2) with a 70% or higher aqueous ethanol solution or ethanol to elute the components including the useful substances and forming the preparation from the eluted fraction.

Further, it provides an agent for oral cavity or food and drinks containing the protectant of periodontal membranes having effects of prevention and therapy of diseases involving damage of periodontal membranes. A protectant of periodontal membranes is proanthocyanidins, particularly proanthocyanidins derived from apple premature fruits or hop bracts having an effect decreasing the damage to periodontal membranes caused by Porphyromonas gingivalis, and an eating and drinking product containing the protectant of periodontal membranes as an effective component.
