    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a magnetic disk device that can reduce an external force applied to the carriage. According to one embodiment, in a magnetic disk device, a bracket inserted between a carriage and a base is supported toward the base side by support portions owned by the bracket and by a band with a space provided between the bracket and the opposed side of the carriage (such as a top surface of the mounting stand). This configuration cannot apply an external force in the rotation direction to the carriage from the bracket even when the bracket is thermally expanded due to heat generated from a head amplifier or the like mounted on a flexible substrate.

The removable data-storage device includes a main data-storage unit, an exterior housing for containing the main data-storage unit, an elastic shock-reduction part between an inner wall of the exterior housing and the main data-storage unit for reducing a mechanical shock to the main data-storage unit by elasticity and an external connector exposed from an opening of the exterior housing. The main data-storage unit is placed at the rear of the external connector as viewed from the opening. The external connector is joined and secured to the main data-storage unit and the exterior housing. In addition, the elastic shock-reduction part is configured to deform with a movement of the main data-storage unit in the exterior housing produced by a mechanical shock and a movable range of the external connector is smaller than a movable range of the main data-storage unit.

    摘要: According to the invention, there is provided a carriage arm assembly including a carriage arm having two arm members. The arm member is constructed in such a way that the width of its coil side end and the width of its suspension side end are narrower than that of its intermediate area. This construction widens a servo band width, improves positioning accuracy, and reduces positioning errors of a magnetic disk apparatus, so that recording density is improved and storage capacity is increased. Further, by coupling two arm members using a restriction member via a visco-elastic member, it is possible to achieve a high damping effect on various vibration modes including in-plane bending of the arms, and suppress vibration of the carriage so as to reduce the positioning errors.
