摘要： High molecular liquid crystal obtained by photopolymerizing a liquid crystal composition which comprises CH2═CHCOO—X—OC6H4—C6H4CN (X is an alkylene group) and CH2═CHCOOC6H4—C6H4CN. An optical element which is a polarized hologram element made by using the high molecular liquid crystal and an optical head having the polarized hologram element as a beam splitter.

摘要： The present invention provides a photopolymerizable liquid crystal monomer having high durability, a low melting point and an enantiotropic property. The photopolymerizable liquid crystal monomer is a 4-(4-(alkyloxycarbonyloxy)benzoyloxy)phenyl acrylate represented by the following formula A [wherein Ph is a 1,4-phenylene group, and R is an alkyl group]: CH2═CHCOO—Ph—OCO—Ph—OCOO—R  Formula A Further, the present invention provides a polymer liquid crystal obtained by polymerizing a composition containing the monomer. Further, the present invention provides an optical element employing the polymer liquid crystal, and an optical head employing the optical element as a polarizing hologram element.

摘要： Anthraquinone compounds represented by the following formula are useful as dyes: ##STR1## wherein Y stands for a hydrogen atom or a nitro group, Z stands for an oxygen or sulfur atom when Y stands for a hydrogen atom, but Z stands for an oxygen atom when Y stands for a nitro group, R.sub.1 stands for a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, R.sub.3 stands for a halogen atom or a group R.sub.2 wherein R.sub.2 stands for an amino, substituted or unsubstituted lower alkylamino, substituted or unsubstituted arylamino, substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy, substituted or unsubstituted aryloxy, substituted or unsubstituted alkylthio, substituted or unsubstituted arylthio group, or a group ##STR2## Q stands for a nitrogen atom or carbon atom bearing a halogen atom when R.sub.3 stands for a halogen atom, but Q stands for a nitrogen atom when R.sub.3 stands for a group R.sub.2, X stands for a halogen atom, the group ##STR3## links to the benzene ring in the 3'- or 4'-position, and M stands for an alkali metal or hydrogen atom.
