摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image bearing member; a charging rotatable member, contactable to the image bearing member at a contact position, for electrically charging the image bearing member, the charging rotatable member being rotatable for counterdirectional peripheral movement relative to rotation of the image bearing member at the contact position; developing means for developing an electrostatic image formed on the image bearing member with a developer, the developing means being capable of collecting a residual developer from the image bearing member; and wherein start of rotation of the charging rotatable member is simultaneous with or prior to start of rotation of the image bearing member.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a movable image bearing member, a charger means including a charge member for electrically charging the image bearing member with electroconductive particles between the charge member and the image bearing member and a developing member for developing a latent image with toner mixed with electroconductive particles. The latent image is formed on the image bearing member having been charged by the charging means, and a toner image provided by development of the latent image by the developing member is transferred onto a recording material. The electroconductive particles mixed in the toner is carried by the image bearing member and are fed to between the charge member and the image bearing member. The width A, measured in a direction perpendicular to a moving direction of the image bearing member, in which the electroconductive particle are present between the charge member and the image bearing member, a width B in which the developing means is capable of effecting development, and a recording width C of a maximum size recording material, satisfy: A>B≧C.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member; a rotatable charging member, forming a nip with the image bearing member, for electrically charging the image bearing member; developing structure for developing an electrostatic image formed on the image bearing member to form a toner image, the developing structure supplying electroconductive particles to the image bearing member, wherein the electroconductive particles are fed to the nip by the image bearing member; and transferring structure for transferring the toner image onto a recording material at a transfer position. The developing structure feeds the electroconductive particles to a region of the image bearing member which corresponds to a region between a first recording material and a second recording material immediately subsequent to the first recording material, and a time period from passage of a trailing end of the first recording material through the transfer position to arrival of a leading end of the second recording material at a transfer position is longer than a time period required for the charging member to rotate one full-turn.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member and an electrostatic image forming unit including an electrification device, which is disposed in contact with the image bearing member at an electrification location for performing injection electrification of the image bearing member. The apparatus is configured to change a peripheral speed difference between the electrification device and the image bearing member in accordance with a first period when an area of said image bearing member, which is to be an image forming area, is present in the electrification position; and a second period in which at least a particle of an area of said image bearing member, the area being a no-image area is present in the electrification position. The peripheral speed in the second period is smaller than the peripheral speed in the first period.

摘要： An image forming apparatus having at least: an image carrying member for carrying an electrostatic latent image, the image carrying member having a photosensitive layer on a conductive substrate; a developer for developing the electrostatic latent image carrying member on the image carrying member; a developer carrying member for carrying the developer and conveying it to a development area; a control member making contact with the developer carrying member for controlling the coating amount of the developer; and a cleaning member for cleaning the surface of the photosensitive layer of the image carrying member by making contact with the surface of the image carrying member with a contact pressure of 0.15N (15 gf) to 0.89N (90 gf). The photosensitive layer contains at least one kind of polycarbonate resin (I) having a viscosity average molecular weight of 1.5×104 or less and at least one kind of polycarbonate resin (II) having a viscosity average molecular weight of more than 1.5×104, the polycarbonate resin (I) is contained in 30% by mass to 95% by mass based on the total content of the resins (I) and (II). The developer has a toner containing toner particles and external additives, and the toner contains (a) 0.1% by mass to 5.0% by mass of a first fine powder with a number average particle size of 0.005 &mgr;m to 3.00 &mgr;m, and (b) 0.02% by mass to 2.00% by mass of an inorganic second fine powder containing 25% by mass to 90% by mass of a lubricant, as external additives.
