摘要： A color picture signal processing circuit, a filter circuit and a luminance/carrier chrominance signal separation circuit implemented by employing the filter circuit. The circuit processing signal includes an adaptive-type (C) comb line filter through which the luminance signal is caused to pass. The output of the filter undergoes amplitude limitation in a limiter circuit, the output of which is subtracted from the original luminance signal. The carrier chrominance signal is added to the luminance signal to obtain a composite picture signal. The filter circuit is comprised of a pulse pattern suppressing circuit including a decision circuit for deciding which of positive and negative patterns the three adjacent data form constitute, a positive pulse pattern suppressing circuit, a negative pulse pattern suppressing circuit and a circuit selecting for either one of the output signal of the positive and negative pulse pattern suppressing circuits in accordance with the result of decision made by the decision circuit.

摘要： A computer system replaces an input device, such as a mouse, with a video camera having an image recognizing function and an image extracting function to detect motions of the operator's body directly, and controls a computer apparatus to move a cursor and check on an icon on the basis of the output signals of the video camera. The computer system controls the computer apparatus also on the basis of a signal provided by the video camera upon the detection of light emitted by a particular object. The computer system is capable of making the computer apparatus understand an operator's intention without using any conventional input device, such as a mouse, and of facilitating an operator's input operation.

摘要： A digital video signal recording and reproducing apparatus and method wherein a basic block is constituted by a plurality of pixels of video signals. A picture data compressing unit effects data compression of the video signals so that a compression data quantity after data compression becomes a constant with respect to a compression block constituted by a plurality of the basic blocks, and the compressed data o the video signals are recorded on a data recording medium. A compression block setting sets a number of the basic blocks to constitute the compression block in response to different operation modes of the digital video signal recording and reproducing apparatus which are different in at least one of resolution of the video signals, recording time and data compression system, and controls the picture data compressing unit so that the number of the compression blocks of the video signals recorded on one track of the data recording medium after data compression by the picture data compressing unit becomes M in a first operation mode, where M is a positive integer, and the number of the compression blocks becomes a positive integer in each of the other operation modes.

摘要： In a recording apparatus equipped with a drive apparatus for recording data on a recording medium such as an optical disk, and a function capable of initializing a management information area of the recording medium, a storage unit is further provided. The storage unit stores thereinto initializing data which is used to be recorded on the management information area of the recording medium when the recording medium is initialized. In the case that an initializing operation is instructed, the recording apparatus records the initializing data which has been stored in the storage unit on the management information area of the recording medium from a beginning area thereof. Thus, a user no longer waits to use the recording medium until the initializing operation is accomplished when such a recording medium as a new optical disk is used, resulting in an improvement of user operability.

The second image data has a bit rate not greater than that of the first image data.

摘要： A picture communication apparatus includes an extracting circuit for extracting video data of at least one portion from video data inputted thereto, an encoder for respectively encoding the extracted video data and the remaining video data, and a multiplexer for multiplexing the encoded video data. When encoding the video data, predetermined amount of codes are allocated to the respective video data. This suppresses deterioration in the picture quality when conducting an image communication via a transmission path having a low transmission rate. The transmitted video is displayed on a contoured display.

摘要： A digital processing unit for converting a digital picture signal into data by blocks and for correction encoding a variable-length encoded signal. This digital processing unit includes a digital data compressing section for dividing a picture signal into a plurality of number of blocks, and compressingly outputting digital data of this picture signal based on a processing unit of one or a few blocks, a buffer section for sequentially storing the digital data, and an error correction encoding section for sequentially reading the digital data from this buffer section, and structuring an inner code for each inner block structured by this digital data and structuring an outer code for each predetermined unit of inner blocks, to thereby structure two-dimensional error correction code blocks, to output an error correction code signal. Further, the error correction encoding section has the length of the digital data of the picture signal included in the inner code set to be equal to or larger than a mean code length of predetermined compressed blocks.
