摘要: A rake receiver having a plurality of rake fingers is adapted based on a plurality of received signals. The plurality of received signals correspond to a single signal transmitted by a single antenna transceiver and received by a multiple antenna transceiver that includes the rake receiver. Each of a plurality of groups of rake fingers corresponds to a single-input, multiple output (SIMO) channel estimate. One coefficient from each of the plurality of SIMO channel estimates is selected, and a transmit steering vector is calculated based on the selected coefficients. The transmit steering vector is applied to a signal to be transmitted by the multiple antenna transceiver to the single antenna transceiver.

摘要: An early-late gate based ADC timing approach is described for performing early-late gate timing recovery despite the presence of multipath signal distortion. Multipath conditions may severely distort Barker correlator magnitudes generated for taps within two taps of a determined bit synchronization time. Exemplary embodiments of the described approach may combine Barker correlator magnitudes for several receive chains to calculate the timing error correction corresponding to a difference of early and late taps. The approach may be used to increase the size and stability of Barker correlator magnitudes generated for taps far away from a determined bit synchronization time. Such embodiments allow early-late differences to be generated using combined Barker correlator magnitudes generated at taps that are two or more chips from a determined bit synchronization time, thereby avoiding multipath distortion that may distort Barker correlator magnitudes generated within two or more chips from the determined bit synchronization time.

摘要: A wireless networking receiver with digital antenna switching selects an antenna with an 802.11b signal based on a signal metric, such as the highest signal quality or highest peak amplitude. In one embodiment, the receiver comprises a plurality of antennas that may each receive one of a plurality of RF signals conforming to the IEEE 802.11b standard. The receiver may have multiple antennas for use with the IEEE 802.11n standard, but may receive signals conforming to the 802.11b standard. The receiver also comprises a carrier sense circuit configured to calculate a signal metric for each of the signals and further configured to generate a selection signal signifying one of the signals, based on the signal metric. The receiver further comprises a multiplexer configured to output one of the signals, based on the selection signal. In another embodiment, a wireless networking receiver comprises signal receiving means, carrier sensing means for calculating and selecting a signal based on a signal metric, and multiplexer means to output the signal. A related method is also disclosed. Other embodiments are provided, and each of the embodiments described herein can be used alone or in combination with one another.

摘要: A receiver with multiple antennas, such as an 802.11b receiver may generate a magnitude signal for each antenna and add the results to determine a peak signal point in a received frame to provide a bit synchronization signal to a rake receiver component. The receiver may include one or more threshold switches that only pass individual or combined magnitude signals when the magnitude signals are above a certain level. The received frame may be dividing into segments using a switching circuit and registers. A comparator may then evaluate the registers to determine the segment with the highest magnitude signal. In one embodiment, values for adjacent segments may be added to a current segment when determining the segment with the highest magnitude signal.

The select module is configured to detect (i) a number of antennas in the receiver, or (ii) a number of enabled receiver paths in the receiver. The select module is also configured to generate a receiver select signal and an adjustment signal based on (i) the number of antennas detected, or (ii) the number of enabled receiver paths detected. The enable module is configured to, based on the receiver select signal, (i) determine that at least one of the enabled receiver paths is an unnecessary receiver path, and (ii) disable the at least one of the enabled receiver paths. The receiver module is configured to, based on the adjustment signal, adjust a bandwidth of the receiver or coefficient values of the receiver.

摘要: Based on a plurality of signals received via a plurality of single-input, multiple-output (SIMO) channels, a plurality of sets of rake coefficients in a multiple-antenna transceiver are adapted. Each signal of the plurality of signals corresponds to a single signal transmitted by a single-antenna transceiver, and each set of the adapted sets of rake coefficients corresponds to an estimate of a respective one of the plurality of SIMO channels. According to at least one selection criterion, one coefficient from each set of the plurality of sets of rake coefficients is selected. A transmit steering vector is generated based on the selected coefficients, and the transmit steering vector is applied to a signal to be transmitted by the multiple-antenna transceiver to the single-antenna transceiver.
