The non-metallic armor eliminates corrosion problems associated with prior metallic armors, and provides significant weight savings over prior metallic armors.

    摘要: A method of suspending an electric submergible pumping system within a wellbore includes inserting an electric cable within a conduit, such as coiled tubing. An electric submergible pumping system is connected to the conduit, and the electric cable is connected to an electric motor of the electric submergible pumping system. The electric submergible pumping system and the conduit are inserted into the wellbore, and the electric cable is permitted to buckle in a manner so that the electric cable buckles and contacts an interior surface of the conduit at a plurality of locations to prevent longitudinal movement of the electric cable within the conduit. Since the cable is self supported within the conduit, there is no need for cable anchors or other devices to transfer the weight of the cable to the conduit.

    摘要: A system for splicing coiled tubing used in deploying downhole equipment and having an internal power cable. The system includes first and second segments of coiled tubing each having power cable disposed therein. Additionally, mounting fixtures are attached to the ends of the coiled tubing segments that are to be joined. The system further includes a movable canister that may be slid over the spliced segments of power cable and selectively engaged with the mounting fixtures. The canister provides structural integrity to the overall deployment tubing while protecting the internal power cable splice.
