摘要: A cable-based heater for providing underground heat and a method of assembly of the cable-based heater are provided. The heater includes a length of coiled tubing having a sealed down-hole end and an open-ended cable support adapter attached to the up-hole end of the coiled tubing. One or more conducting cables are contained within the coiled tubing and a wedging tube is placed in the open end of the adapter for supporting the weight of the one or more cables against the interior sidewall of the adapter when the heater is deployed underground. The wedging tube has an inner surface shaped to conform to the outer shape of the one or more cables and an outer sidewall configured for weight bearing frictional contact with the interior sidewall of the cable support adapter.

摘要: A string of coiled tubing having a power cable therein supports and supplies power to an electrical submersible well pump assembly in a well. The coiled tubing has an upper section and a lower section joining each other, the upper section having a smaller inner diameter than the lower section. The power cable has an upper portion installed in the upper section of the coiled tubing and a lower portion installed in the lower section of the coiled tubing. The power cable has three insulated electrical conductors embedded within an elastomeric jacket. A metal armor strip has turns wrapped helically around the jacket. The armor strip is compressed between the jacket and the coiled tubing both in the upper section and in the lower section of the coiled tubing.

摘要: A method of live well artificial lift completion includes hanging an umbilical on a wellhead of a live well, the umbilical fluidly coupling a production pump to a well surface and electrically coupling an electric motor to a surface power source, the electric motor powering the production pump. The umbilical includes coiled tubing surrounded by a jacket. The umbilical also includes power cables extruded inside the jacket to form a smooth jacket outer surface. The method also includes creating a pressure seal inside the umbilical during deployment of the umbilical into the live well, the pressure seal inside the umbilical created using a blowout plug positioned to block a discharge of the production pump. The method further includes forming an annular pressure seal during deployment of the production pump to obtain well control, the annular pressure seal formed using an annular bag coupled to the wellhead.

A live well artificial lift completion system includes an artificial lift pump discharge, a discharge adapter body secured between the artificial lift pump discharge and an umbilical, the discharge adapter body including an electrical connector fastened to an exterior of the discharge adapter body, an inner diameter of the discharge adapter body fluidly coupled to the artificial lift pump discharge, the umbilical including coiled tubing supportively hanging from an umbilical hanger within a wellhead, the umbilical hanger positioned in a tubing head spool, an inner diameter of the coiled tubing fluidly coupled to the inner diameter of the discharge adapter body, a jacket surrounding the coiled tubing, and a power cable extruded inside the jacket, wherein the power cable is connectable between the electrical connector of the discharge adapter body and a surface power source.

摘要: A method of hanging a cable within a coiled tubing string includes the steps of determining a length of coiled tubing required within a well having a wellhead; determining a length of a cable required within the coiled tubing, the cable having a structural component along the length of the cable sufficient to support the weight of the cable; cutting the tubing string and installing a hanger sub in the coiled tubing string toward the wellhead attachment section relative to the downhole end, the hanger sub comprising an inner shoulder that extends radially into the hanger sub and defines an opening; and attaching an outer shoulder to the cable and inserting the cable into the coiled tubing string until the outer shoulder of the cable engages the inner shoulder of the hanger sub such that the inner shoulder positions the cable below the outer shoulder.

摘要: Examples of fiber reinforced and powered coil tubing include a hollow fiber reinforced composite coiled tubing with a tubing wall having an inner surface, an outer surface and a wall thickness. The inner surface is formed to prevent absorption of fluids flowed through the coiled tubing to the tubing wall. The tubing can connect a power source at a surface of a wellbore to downhole equipment positioned within the wellbore. An electrical power conductor is embedded in the tubing wall. The conductor can transfer power from the power source to the downhole equipment. The tubing can be used to lower, install and remove downhole equipment into the wellbore without a work-over rig. The downhole equipment can be operated by transmitted power through the electrical power conductor.

A power cable installed in the tubing has three insulated electrical conductors embedded within an elastomeric jacket. A metal strip has turns wrapped helically around the jacket. The metal strip is compressed between the jacket and the tubing to cause the power cable to frictionally grip the tubing.
