Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling a standby operation are provided that relate to the field of communications technologies. The method for controlling a standby operation includes: performing user detection within a preset range when it is detected that no operation instruction exists within a first preset time; and determining whether a user can be detected within a second preset time and performing a standby operation according to a determination result. According to the present invention, a corresponding standby operation is performed if a user is not using a device, thereby improving user experience.
