Abstract: A method and apparatus for discovering an access point, where the method includes: sending, by a station, a detection request message to an access point, where the detection request message carries filter condition information that includes transmission service quality of service (QoS) requirement information, and where the transmission service QoS requirement information is used by the access point to determine whether the filter condition is satisfied, and receiving, by the station, a detection response message sent by the access point when the access point determines that the filter condition is satisfied.
