Abstract: A database entity includes a controller and a memory is provided. The controller is configured to receive a request based on a query received by a client node through an originating database entity. The request includes an indicator of a function to generate a result, an indicator of data on which the function is to be performed, and an indicator of a destination. The controller is further configured to retrieve data according to the indicator of data and execute the indicated function on the retrieved data. Further, the controller transmits the request to the indicated destination. The transmission of the relevant data directly to the indicated destination reduces the query processing latency which further reduces the memory usage.

Abstract: A computing device is configured to operate as a server in a cluster system. The computing device includes a controller, a local memory and a communications interface. The communications interface is configured to connect to a second computing device and to connect to a shared memory configured to store data. The controller is configured to receive a command from a client and determine redo and/or undo information relating to the command. The controller is further configured to store the redo and/or undo information in the local memory and to store the redo and/or undo information in the local memory of the second computing device, thereby mirroring the redo and/or undo information, where the local memory is a persistent memory.
