摘要: A method to more effectively and efficiently diagnose problems in a storage network is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes generating, for a storage network, a resource map that identifies components therein. For each component in the resource map, the method identifies an importance factor that indicates the component's importance in the storage network. When a problem is detected in the storage network, the method identifies, for each component in the resource map, a potential cause factor that indicates how likely the component is to have caused the problem. The method also calculates, for each component in the resource map, a problem responsibility factor to indicate to what extent the component is held responsible for the problem. A corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.

The computer-implemented method includes: registering for a subset of data operations that are recorded at a central location, where the central location is coupled to a plurality of distributed accessor nodes. A subset of available resources in one or more magnetic tape libraries that are coupled to the plurality of distributed accessor nodes are registered for and further managed. Moreover, a performance of the subset of data operations using the registered subset of available resources is scheduled. 摘要: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method, system and computer program product for maintaining a storage array online. According to the method, an unrecoverable error is detected by one or more processors as having occurred in a failed disk of a storage array in first storage. The failed disk is replaced with a spare disk in the first storage. Data is retrieved from a second storage for storing into a stripe of the first storage based on address information of a data block of the failed disk. The second storage stores mirrored data of data stored in the first storage. The stripe includes data blocks distributed across all disks in the storage array of the first storage. The retrieved data is caused to be written into the stripe of the storage array of the first storage. In other embodiments, a system and a computer program product are disclosed.

摘要: A computer-implemented method, according to one embodiment, includes: detecting an outage at a production site, and transferring I/O functionality to a first recovery site. In response to resolving the outage, first and second out-of-sync bitmaps are received from the first and second recovery sites, respectively. The out-of-sync bitmaps are merged together. Performance data which corresponds to achievable throughput is received from each of the first and second recovery sites, and the performance data is used to divide the merged out-of-sync bitmap into two portions. A request is sent to the first recovery site for data which corresponds to the first portion of the merged out-of-sync bitmap. Similarly, a request is sent to the second recovery site for data which corresponds to the second portion of the merged out-of-sync bitmap. Finally, data is received which corresponds to the first and second portions of the merged out-of-sync bitmap respectively, in parallel.

摘要: Disclosed is a computer-implemented method to increase the speed of extent migration. The method comprises determining a plurality of extents to migrate. The extents are stored in a source tier and the source tier is one tier of a tiered storage system. The method also comprises forming a first queue, wherein the first queue contains the plurality of extents to be migrated. The method further includes selecting a first extent to copy to a target tier. The copying comprises dividing the extent into a plurality of strides, forming a second queue containing the strides, selecting and copying the first stride, and removing the first stride from the second queue. The method further comprises changing a mapping table to point to the target tier, removing the first extent from the first queue, and releasing the first area of the first tier.

摘要: The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for rebuilding a storage array. The method comprises: replacing, in response to a failing storage device occurs in the storage array, the failing storage device with a first spare storage device; performing component rebuild by using other storage devices in the storage array than the first spare storage device, so as to restore within the first spare storage device data in the failing storage device; performing, in parallel with the component rebuild, smart rebuild by using a second spare storage device, so as to copy data in the failing storage device to the second spare storage device; replacing the first spare storage device with the second spare storage device in the storage array upon completion of the smart rebuild.

摘要: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a computer-implemented method for data replication from a first storage to a second storage. In the method, data replication control blocks for data blocks stored in the first storage and needed to be transmitted may be generated. The data replication control blocks may be sorted in an ascending order of probabilities of expected overwrites of the respective data blocks. The data blocks may be transmitted from the first storage to the second storage according to the sorted data replication control blocks.
