    Abstract: Techniques for presenting venue based services in a WLAN environment are provided. Specifically, methods that when taken alone or together, provide a device or group of devices with an efficient way of accessing venue based applications and advertisements while reducing application pollution. The present disclosure includes a system that provides a user with automatic network and application discovery while in the vicinity of a venue. If the system detects that the application is not installed in the wireless device, the venue specific application is presented to the user for download and install. The system can also recognize a user's preferences and tailor the application and advertisement provided accordingly.

    Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to network slice selector (NSS). In one embodiment, for example, an evolved node B (eNB) may include a processor circuit, and an NSS for execution by the processor circuit to allocate a network slice (NS) to a user equipment (UE). The NS may comprise one or more virtual network function(s) (VNF). In one implementation, a VNF takes on the responsibility of handing specific network functions run on one or more virtual machines (VM) associated with hardware networking infrastructures, such as routers, switches, etc. Individual VNFs may be combined or connected together to provide a complete networking communication service for UEs. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for transmitting AT commands indicating whether Evolved Packet System (EPS) Session Management (ESM) information should be transmitted securely are disclosed herein. A Terminal Equipment (TE) may transmit an AT command to a Mobile Termination (MT). The AT command may indicate whether protocol configuration options (PCO) should be ciphered and/or whether an access point name (APN) is provided. In some embodiments, the AT command may be a dedicated command and may only include a parameter and an parameter. Alternatively, or in addition, the AT command may include a parameter, an parameter, and/or additional parameters serving additional functions. Whether the APN is provided may be determined based on whether the parameter is present and includes a non-null value. The AT command may be related to a single packet data network (PDN) connection or may relate to a plurality of PDN connections.

    Abstract: Embodiments are directed to techniques to manage service requests in a wireless network. In one embodiment, an apparatus may comprise processing circuitry. The apparatus may further include computer-readable storage media having stored thereon instructions for execution by the processing circuitry. The instructions, when executed, may determine, at user equipment (UE) operating in an Evolved Packet System (EPS) mobility management (EMM)-IDLE mode and configured to use EPS services with control plane Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) EPS optimization, to initiate a service request procedure to enable transfer of user data via a control plane, generate a service request message that contains a service type information element (IE) comprising a service type value set to indicate either a mobile originating request or a mobile terminating request, and send the service request message to a mobility management entity (MME) to initiate the service request procedure. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
