Abstract: In a method for operating a fingerprint sensor including a plurality of ultrasonic transducers, receiving a plurality of images corresponding to different subsets of the ultrasonic transducers of the fingerprint sensor are received, wherein the plurality of images are non-adjacent. For each image of the plurality of images, it is determined whether the image of the plurality of images is indicative of a fingerprint. Provided a number of images of the plurality of images that are indicative of a fingerprint satisfies a threshold, it is determined whether the images of the plurality of images that are indicative of a fingerprint are collectively indicative of a fingerprint. Provided the plurality of images are collectively indicative of a fingerprint, it is determined that the plurality of images include a fingerprint.

Abstract: In a method for fingerprint authentication, a fingerprint image is received from a fingerprint sensor. Fingerprint authentication of the fingerprint image is performed by comparing the fingerprint image to a set of authentication fingerprint images including at least one enrollment fingerprint image and at least one transformed fingerprint image, where the transformed fingerprint image is generated by applying a transfer function to at least one enrollment fingerprint image of the set of authentication fingerprint images, and where the transfer function is for simulating fingerprint image acquisition during a predefined environmental condition.

Abstract: In a method for performing operating a fingerprint sensor, an image of a fingerprint of a finger is captured at a fingerprint sensor. A force applied by the finger at the fingerprint sensor is determined, where the force is a measure of pressure applied by the finger on the fingerprint sensor during capture of the image. The force is compared to a pressure threshold. Provided the force satisfies a pressure threshold, a spoof detection operation is performed to determine whether the finger is a real finger. Provided the force does not satisfy the pressure threshold, fingerprint authentication using the image of the fingerprint is performed without performing the spoof detection operation.

An operational condition of the sensor is determined. A darkfield candidate image comprising a combination of the plurality of darkfield images is modeled based at least in part on the operational condition of the sensor, wherein a contribution of each darkfield image of the plurality of darkfield images is dependent on the operational condition.

Abstract: In a method for correcting a fingerprint image, it is determined whether an object is interacting with the fingerprint sensor. Provided an object is not interacting with the fingerprint sensor, it is determined whether to capture a darkfield candidate image at the fingerprint sensor, wherein the darkfield candidate image is an image absent an object interacting with the fingerprint sensor. Responsive to making a determination to capture the darkfield candidate image, the darkfield candidate image is captured at the fingerprint sensor. Provided an object is interacting with the fingerprint sensor, it is determined whether to model a darkfield candidate image at the fingerprint sensor. Responsive to making a determination to model the darkfield candidate image, the darkfield candidate image is modeled at the fingerprint sensor. A darkfield estimate is updated with the darkfield candidate image. A fingerprint image is captured at the fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint image is corrected using the darkfield estimate.

Abstract: A robotic cleaning appliance includes a housing to which is coupled a surface treatment item and a sensor assembly with first and second transducers and an acoustic interface. The first sonic transducer transmits sonic signals through an acoustic interface and out of a first acoustic opening toward a surface beneath the robotic cleaning appliance. The sonic signals reflect from the surface as corresponding returned signals received by the second sonic transducer via a second acoustic opening port of the acoustic interface. The annular ring attenuate direct path echoes between the acoustic opening ports. The first and second acoustic opening ports are coupled the first and sonic transducers, respectively, via first and second horns; and the horns are tilted from orthogonal with the surface.

Abstract: In a method for enhancing quality of a fingerprint image, a plurality of images is received, where the plurality of images comprises fingerprint images. An image of the plurality of images is selected as a reference image. Subsections of each image of the plurality of images are compared to corresponding subsections of the reference image. Based on the comparing, subsections of each image of the plurality of images are selected to utilize in generating an image average of the plurality of images. An image average of the plurality of images is generated utilizing selected subsections of the plurality of images.
