    摘要: A system and method for generating a coherent reference signal for extracting desired user signals from received signals even after error propagation is underway, are presented. A data symbol preceding a sequence whose relative phases are known is used as an absolute phase reference. Since errors in detection of the phase reference symbol are usually caused by error propagation already underway, the sequence can be used to reacquire the desired signal with merely an absolute phase shift in detected data, which allows accurate differential detection of the desired user signal even in the absence of absolute phase knowledge.

    摘要: An improvement of a digital wireless receiver comprises a processing circuit for processing a plurality of received signals, and providing a processed signal having an amplitude; and an adjusting circuit for adjusting the amplitude of the processed signal, the adjusting circuit coupled to the processing circuit, where the adjusting circuit adjusts the amplitude as a function of distortion of the plurality of received signals. The processing circuit can weight and combine the plurality of received signals. The distortion can be estimated from a squared error of the plurality of received signals, which can be averaged over a sliding window. The function can comprise multiplying the processed signal by square root of the averaged squared error. Such amplitude adjustment is useful to maintain the soft decision information for the processed signal that is fed to a base station having soft decision decoding, or can be used in the base station with soft decoding.

    摘要: An apparatus for performance improvement of a burst mode digital wireless receiver has a processing circuit for processing a plurality of received signals and providing a processed signal and a delay circuit for introducing a predetermined delay to the processed signal. The delay circuit is coupled to the processing circuit. The predetermined delay is such that the processed signal is delayed to correspond with a later data burst. The processing circuit weights and combines the received signals, where the processing circuit reduces a mean squared error of an output signal. The processing circuit weights and combines the received signals using a predetermined symbol pattern within a sync sequence within a time slot.

A plurality of signals containing a desired signal, interference, and noise are received through an array of antennas connected to a base receiving station. The signal arriving at each antenna is weighted according to computations which adjust those weights as a function of received interference and noise power in an unequal manner, based on the estimation accuracy of the interference and noise, which in turn depends on factors such as interference to noise power ratios and fading rate.

    摘要: The bit rate at which a digital wireless communications system communicates data in scattering environments may be significantly increased by using multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver and by decomposing the channel into m subchannels. In the same frequency band, m one dimensional signals are transmitted into a scattering environment which makes these transmitted signals appear spatially independent at the receiver antenna array. The high bit rate is enabled by special receiver processing to maximize the minimum signal-to-noise ratio of the receiver detection process.
