摘要： Disclosed herein is a balancer of a washing machine. The balancer comprises a balancer ring mounted to a drum, the balancer ring having a liquid receiving space for receiving liquid, a plurality of first baffles disposed in the interior of the balancer ring, and a plurality of second baffles disposed between the first baffles such that the first and second baffles are alternately arranged, the second baffles having a height lower than that of the first baffles. When abnormal vibration is generated in the washing machine, the surge of salt water is effectively prevented by the second baffles. Consequently, further noise and vibration due to a resonance phenomenon or other abnormal vibration is minimized.

摘要： A drum type washing machine including a tub installed in a cabinet is disclosed. The drum type washing machine includes a drum performing washing, a motor rotating the drum, bearing housings having bearings to support a rotation shaft, a suspension connected to the bearing housings and the cabinet to mitigate vibration generated during rotation of the drum, a bracket installed to the bearing housings to form the rear side of the tub, and a gasket installed between the bracket and the tub to seal the tub and to prevent vibration from being transmitted from the bracket to the tub. Volumes of the tub and the drum can be easily increased without increasing the volume of the cabinet. Even when the volume of the washing machine is changed, only one of the tub and the bearing housings, which is not applicable to the drum type washing machine having the changed washing capacity, is selectively replaced. Thus parts can commonly used in various drum type washing machine having different volume.

摘要： A clothes amount sensing method in a washing machine which is capable of reducing clothes amount sensing errors caused by frictional forces, thereby achieving an enhancement in accuracy and reliability. The method includes an acceleration step for accelerating, to a predetermined RPM, a motor adapted to rotate the wash tub, a constant-speed step for maintaining the motor at the predetermined RPM when an RPM of the motor reaches the predetermined RPM in accordance with the acceleration step, a deceleration step for turning off the motor to decelerate the motor, following the constant-speed step, and a clothes amount determination step for determining the amount of the clothes by use of equations of motion respectively established in the acceleration, constant-speed, and deceleration steps.
