    摘要: An electrostatographic recording apparatus and method includes recording of electrostatic images and a patch area on an endless imaging member. The recording is operative in accordance with adjustable parameters to adjust density of the patch area. A development station is operative in accordance with another parameter for adjusting density of the images and the patch area. A sensor senses density of a toned patch area and generates a first signal representing density of the toned patch area. A transfer station transfers images on the image member to a transfer medium. A cleaning station located downstream of the sensor and the transfer station cleans remnant toner and the patch area on the imaging member. The cleaning station is adjustable to alter cleaning performance. A process controller is responsive to the first signal and adjusts density of a subsequently formed toned patch area; and a controller is responsive to a second signal related to density of a toned patch area and the patch area after cleaning for adjusting an adjustable parameter of the cleaning station to adjust cleaning performance of the cleaning station.

    摘要: A process is disclosed for printing a document such as a negotiable instrument in a first and a second color for increasing the security of the document. A major portion of the document is printed with a first information in a first color from a first printer. A second information is created from at least a portion of the first information for proving a security pattern. The security pattern is printed over a minor portion of the document in the second color from a second printer to increase the security of the document. The process may be used for printing a check in a magnetically readable first color and a non-magnetically readable second color including colors having a color spectrum located outside of the color spectrum range of a conventional color photocopier.

    摘要: Roll fuser apparatus and a release agent management system therefor. The fuser comprises a pair of pressure engageable rolls one of which is heated and has a relatively thick silicone rubber outer layer. The fuser is adapted to accommodate various size copy sheets resulting in a number of areas of the silicone rubber undergoing physical changes due to the effects of sheet edge contact therewith. The release agent management system is designed to minimize the adverse effects caused by the sheet edges contacting the silicone rubber outer layer. To this end the system which serves to dispense silicone oil onto the surface of the silicone rubber is provided with a plurality of apertures which are strategically located such that a quantity of the oil is introduced into the silicone rubber in these areas of sheet edge contact whereby the adverse effects noted are counteracted.

    摘要: A photoreceptor cleaning brush for an electrostatographic imaging apparatus contains individual fibers provided with a finishing agent that is a water-miscible aliphatic organic compound containing a plurality of alcoholic hydroxy substituents. The finishing agent is selected from the group of compounds having a molecular weight of up to about 250 and polyethylene glycols having a number-average molecular weight of about 1000 to about 200,000. In an electrostatographic imaging apparatus, the photoconductive imaging element includes the described photoreceptor cleaning brush and a photoconductive surface portion that contains a polycarbonate binder resin. The cleaning brush removes toner from the photoconductive surface portion of the element without damaging it.

    摘要: An electrostatographic imaging apparatus and method for cleaning remnant toner. An intermediate transfer member (ITM) is in transfer relation to a primary image-forming member to transfer the toner image from the primary image-forming member to the ITM. The ITM then transfers the image to a receiver sheet. A cleaning brush including plural individual brush fibers in engagement with the ITM removes residual toner from the ITM. The fibers each include an electrically conductive core and a surrounding substantially nonconductive annular portion. An electrically conductive backing secures the fibers and is adapted to electrically induce a potential from the backing to the cores of the fibers. The backing is substantially electrically insulated from the electrically conductive cores of the fibers. An electrical potential is established on the backing which is induced upon the cores of the fibers to attract remnant toner from the ITM to the brush. A detoning member includes an electrically conductive surface that contacts the brush fibers.

    摘要: An electrostatographic reproduction apparatus and method for cleaning remnant toner and carrier particles.     摘要: A sensor measures the toner applying capability of a toning station. It includes a transparent conductive rotatable member which is rotated through a developer applying zone and a sensing position remote from the developer applying zone. Toner is applied by developer in the station to the exterior surface of the rotatable member as controlled by a bias applied to the rotatable member. The applied toner is sensed by a transmission densitometer at the sensing position. The output can be used to control toner concentration, an original charge on an image member or a development bias applied to the toner station.
