    摘要: A process for the purification of an inert gas recycled from a polymerization reactor is disclosed, comprising the steps of mixing the gas with oxygen or gas containing oxygen in stoichiometric quantity or in such an excess that the gas at the outlet of the catalyst bed contains no more than 250 ppm of oxygen, circulating the gas through a catalyst bed comprising platinum, which has been subjected to a reducing environment, at temperatures of no more than 300° C. (572° F.) and preferably no more than 250° C. (482° F.) and recycling the gas to the polymerization reactor.

    摘要: The exothermicity attending decomposition of N.sub.2 O to nitrogen and oxygen can lead to a multiplicity of process difficulties associated with high process temperatures. An improved process is one where a portion of the exit gases, depleted in N.sub.2 O, is first cooled and then recycle to the N.sub.2 O-decomposition zone. The process is amenable to process control to afford a very stable process largely independent on the particular catalyst used for N.sub.2 O decomposition. Where the N.sub.2 O-containing waste gas stream also contains NO.sub.x, if it often highly desirable to pretreat the stream to remove NO.sub.x prior to the N.sub.2 O-decomposition zone.

    摘要: A composite of tungsten oxide on alumina, zirconia, or titania is active in promoting the dehydration of phenols to afford diaryl ethers if the composite is partially reduced with hydrogen at a temperature between 250.degree. and 450.degree. C. Using such a catalyst diaryl ethers may be prepared by the dehydration of phenols in the temperature range of 350.degree. to 550.degree. C.
