    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a mother substrate includes panel portions, a margin portion, and a first partition provided in the margin portion. The first partition includes a first lower portion including an annular side surface, and a first upper portion provided on the first lower portion and including an annular protrusion which protrudes from the side surface. An inner circumferential portion includes, in plan view, a plurality of linear portions and a plurality of corner portions each connecting the adjacent two linear portions. In the linear portions, the side surface and an end portion of the protrusion linearly extend. In the corner portions, the side surface and the end portion of the protrusion are formed into an arcuate shape.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a counter substrate having a glass substrate, a color layer on the glass substrate, an overcoating layer on the color layer, and a counter protrusion and a counter wall protrusion on the overcoating layer. The counter protrusion is located in an image display region. The counter wall protrusion is located in a peripheral region enclosing the image display region. The counter protrusion and the counter wall protrusion are of substantially a same height. A first protrusion distance from the glass substrate to a top of the counter protrusion is shorter than a second protrusion distance from the glass substrate to a top of the counter wall protrusion. According to the liquid crystal display device configured as above, an outer periphery of a display panel does not bend.
