摘要： A technique in which content is supplied to an electronic reader device is described. A time at which to send content to the electronic reader device is stored in a content server based on user preferences, user electronic reader device interaction or network conditions. The content is transmitted to the electronic reader device at the time for later display. Additional content may be securely supplied to the electronic reader device for purchase. The additional content may be in a format such that when a user later enters a request to purchase the content, the content can be instantly displayed.

摘要： Power management features of a reader device control an amount of electrical energy supplied to the reader device. The power management features include several power control categories that a user may select to affect an amount of power consumed by the reader device. One power control category controls power consumption based on a genre of an electronic book being processed by the reader device. Another power control category controls power consumption based on a time of day an electronic book is being processed by the reader device. Power control instructions that control how much power a reader device consumes may also be generated based on a characteristic of a user's interaction with the device.

A method of social broadcasting is disclosed. A metadata is received via a server interface indicating items of content expected to be included in a broadcast and for each item of content a manner in which the item of content is to be included in the broadcast. At least a subset of said items of content is stored in a media cache. Said items of content are used to assemble in the manner indicated by said metadata, and to provide as output for broadcast to the station interface, a broadcast stream, including by responding dynamically to subsequently received metadata indicating a change in one or both of (1) said items of content expected to be included in a broadcast and (2) the manner in which one or more of said items of content is or are to be included in the broadcast.

A method of promoting user participation in a social broadcast environment is disclosed. Based on an attribution criterion, it is determined that a user is to receive credit for affecting a broadcast of a content data designated by the user. A processor is used to transform a data associated with the user to include in a broadcast stream generated for the broadcast an attribution content associated with the user.
