摘要:
A multi-frequency antenna comprising an IMD element, one or more active tuning elements and one or more parasitic elements. The IMD element is used in combination with the active tuning and parasitic elements for enabling a variable frequency at which the antenna operates, wherein, when excited, the parasitic elements may couple with the IMD element to change an operating characteristic of the IMD element.

Multi-frequency, low-profile, capacitively loaded magnetic dipole antennas to be used in wireless communications. Each antenna comprises one to n antenna elements and each element having one to n arms. The various antenna embodiments can cover a range of frequencies to be determined by the shape, size, and number of elements in the physical configuration of the antenna. The antenna configuration can also be adapted to expand frequency bands covered by the antenna or to fit within space restrictions dictated by specific antenna applications.

A multi-function array is described where several communication system functions are realized using the same antenna architecture. An array of antenna elements where each antenna element can generate multiple radiation patterns is described; the multiple radiation patterns from each antenna element provides increased capability and flexibility in generating a phased array, a MIMO antenna system, a receive diversity antenna system, as well as direction finding feature by way of an interferometer function provided by one or multiple elements. The small volume attributes of the antenna elements populating the array lend this technique to mobile wireless devices as well as access points.

Differential mode capacitively loaded magnetic dipole designs are provided for usage in various applications. Impedance matching may be accomplished with changes to antenna structures without concomitant changes in resonant frequency.

A design and physical configuration for multi-frequency, low-profile, capacitively loaded magnetic dipole (CLMD) antennas to be used in wireless communications. One component of the CLMD antenna having one to three metal plates, and one component having one to n elements. The range of frequencies covered to be determined by the shape, size, and number of elements in the physical configuration of the components.
