摘要： An energy-efficient refrigeration system includes an electrically controlled refrigerant storage device that is coupled to the refrigeration system to selectively receive refrigerant from and dispense refrigerant to the operating loop of the refrigeration system. The refrigerant storage device includes a storage vessel, means for selectively displacing refrigerant from the storage device into the operating loop, and a refrigerant storage device controller coupled to the means for displacing refrigerant so as to control the mass of refrigerant in the storage vessel in correspondence with the cooling demand on the refrigeration system so that the compressor drive motor is loaded for optimal efficiency for a given cooling demand on the system. The means for displacing refrigerant from the vessel of the storage device typically comprises a temperature control element, such as a heating element or solid state heat pump, that is electrically coupled to the controller and thermally coupled to the vessel. Alternatively, a bladder mechanism is disposed in the vessel for physically varying the volume of the vessel in which refrigerant can be stored in correspondence with signals from the controller.

摘要： An energy-efficient refrigeration system includes an electrically controlled thermal expansion valve disposed in the refrigerant piping so as to control flow of refrigerant in the refrigeration system, and an expansion valve controller coupled to the expansion valve to provide control signals to the valve. The controller includes a refrigerant temperature sensing device coupled to the refrigeration system so as to sense a flow control temperature corresponding to the refrigeration temperature at a flow measurement site so that the controller generates control signals to control valve position to provide optimum refrigerant flow for a particular operational mode of the system. The thermal expansion valve includes a heating element that is responsive to control signals from the controller and that is thermally coupled to a thermal expansion medium so that the medium expands upon application of heat from the heating element.

摘要： A system and method are provided for detecting and interrupting an out-of-balance (OOB) condition in a washing machine. The system includes pneumatic generating units for generating a predetermined fluidic pressure in response to excursions of a tub of the washing machine during a spin cycle; an actuator which is fluidly coupled to such generating units for providing an actuating position corresponding to the OOB condition; and a switch responsive to the actuator in its actuating position to deenergize a motor which spins the basket for holding the articles to be cleansed and thereby interrupt the OOB condition.

The signals are high pass filtered and added together, then low pass filtered and full wave rectified to operate an alarm and strip recorder. A method for detecting vibration in a shaft comprises sensing vibrations in the shaft, filtering the sensed signals, and rectifying the filtered signals.

摘要： A washing machine having a variable speed motor. The washing machine has a basket for holding articles to be washed and has a first axis of rotation. A basket drive shaft connected to the basket drives the basket. An agitator disposed in the basket along the first axis of rotation agitates the article in the basket. An agitator drive shaft connected to the agitator drives the agitator. A variable speed motor, having a second axis of rotation which is not coincident with the first axis of rotation, drives the basket drive shaft and the agitator drive shaft. A coupler couples motion of the variable speed motor to the agitator drive shaft and basket drive shaft.

摘要： An imager control system with contact detection capability for positioning a movable imaging element structure with respect to a subject includes a collar assembly disposed around at least a portion of the imaging element structure disposed towards a subject region; a plurality of sensor elements disposed in a sensing pattern in the collar assembly, each sensor element having a number elastomeric electrodes coupled together in series; and a processing unit coupled to the sensor elements so as to detect contact between the collar assembly and a subject of examination as a function of a change in resistance in one or more elastomeric electrode resulting from deformation of the electrode upon contact with the subject. The elastomeric electrodes are made of a flexible material in which conductive particles have been embedded such that electrode exhibits a change in electrical resistance in response to physical deformation.

摘要： An energy saving method of operating a washing machine such that the amount of water added to the washer basket is proportionate to the weight of the articles to be washed includes the steps of determining a normalized inertia of the washer basket loaded with articles to be cleaned; determining an estimated weight of the load of articles to be washed based upon the normalized inertia value; and controlling a washer water supply system to add a load-specific volume of water to the washer basket, the magnitude of the load-specific volume of water corresponding to the estimated weight of the articles to be washed. An energy efficient washing machine in accordance with this invention includes an induction motor coupled to the washer basket, a washer water supply system coupled to the washer basket, and a washer controller coupled to the drive motor and the washer water supply system so as to respectively control operation thereof. The washer controller includes a load weight circuit for generating control signals for the washer water supply system to add a load-specific volume of water to the washer basket in correspondence with an inertia-based estimated load weight signal generated by the load weight circuit.
